Nairobi Hotels

Should you be headed to Kenya to enjoy a safari, the beaches, and everything else, you'll likely spend at least a night or two in the capital city of Nairobi as the bulk of international flights to Kenya arrive or depart from here. Whether you choose to hang around for a few days, or opt to head out elsewhere, you may need to at least book a night or two at one of the Nairobi hotels. There are Nairobi accommodation choices to fit a range of budgets and tastes, and the mid-priced selections are often of the international chain variety, such as Holiday Inn and Intercontinental. The mid-to-upper-priced Nairobi hotels will provide clean and comfortable rooms with private bathrooms and extras such as a nice restaurant and a swimming pool. For those looking for cheap hotels in Nairobi, it can be somewhat tricky to find a good one, and you'll likely want to investigate the place a bit before you commit. In any event, the following are a few suggestions for Nairobi hotels to help you choose the right place to stay during your Kenya vacation.

Perhaps no Nairobi lodging discussion should be devoid of the historic Norfolk Hotel, which has undergone quite a renovation project. For many, many years, the Norfolk Hotel has been a popular starting point for Kenyan safaris, and you'll hardly know you're in the center of a big city when hanging out in the hotel's beautiful courtyard. There are 168 rooms and suites here to choose from, all of which feature a rich decor, wardrobes, dressing tables, a telephone, A/C, satellite cable TV, and an all-important electronic mosquito repellent. All but the value-priced Moderate Rooms have ensuite marble bathrooms, and all guest rooms provide complimentary toiletries. There is a nice, heated outdoor swimming pool here that is surrounded by gardens, and there are no less than 6 quality restaurants on-site, so your dining needs will certainly be met. Hanging out at the Spa/Fitness Center is a good way to unwind, and the wonderful staff here will do all it can to help make your stay a great one. A bit pricy, the Norfolk Hotel might not fit into everyone's budget, but if you can swing a night or more here, it's worth it to splurge a bit.

As mentioned above, it can be a bit tricky finding the right budget Nairobi lodging option for your stay in Kenya's capital city, so for those looking for a good value, it's hard to top the Kenya Comfort Hotel. Located in a safe part of town and offering nicely-sized rooms that are clean and comfortable enough for most, the Kenya Comfort Hotel is just an all around good deal. There are actually two Kenya Comfort Hotels to choose from in Nairobi, the one featured here being located in the city center, and the other offering larger suites and a more upscale experience in the suburbs. Conference facilities are available at the Kenya Comfort for those on business, and this wonderful Nairobi hotel value also offers a sauna and steam bath, a good restaurant, a coffee bar, and a small internet cafe. All rooms are cleaned daily, with fresh towels as part of the deal, and each offers mosquito nets and fairly sizeable beds. There are superior and executive rooms on the upper floors that offer wardrobes and cable television, so you might opt for one of those if you have a bit extra to spend. For those looking to enjoy a little Nairobi Kenya nightlife, there is a disco nearby that is hopping, especially on Saturday nights. The more upscale Kenya Comfort Hotel Suites is found in the upbeat Milimani suburb, and all the suites here feature kitchens where you can prepare your own meals should you desire.

Well-priced, and more than able to guarantee a nice and comfortable stay, the Country Lodge hotel is located adjacent to the also favorable Fairview Hotel, which is also a great deal. The two hotels are run by the same company. Though there is not a restaurant or pool at the Country Lodge Nairobi hotel, guests here can use the pool at the Fairview, as well as dine at its restaurants. The staffs at both the Country Lodge and the Fairview are excellent, which goes quite a long way. We'll focus more on the Country Lodge in this article, but by all means you should also consider the Fairview. The Country Lodge is hard to top for business travelers looking for a great value, and you might be surprised at the great rates once you see the hotel's beautiful layout and decor. A good complimentary breakfast is included in the rates here, and there are computers in the lobby area for guests to use if they don't have laptops for the free WiFi internet access. Interestingly enough, both the Country Lodge and Fairview seem to prefer business travelers, so you might bring even the most simple of business cards to present to them as a sort of guise if you are a leisure traveler. The rooms at the Country Lodge are quite spacious and clean, and all offer satellite cable TV, comfy beds with duvets, soundproofing windows and doors, a work desk, private bathrooms, a vanity area, a safe, and coffee and tea makers.

Considered by many as the top Nairobi lodging choice, it's hard to find fault with the House of Waine, which is located in the Karen suburb of Nairobi. The wonderful pool and gardens here encourage a peaceful state of mind, and since there are only 11 guest rooms, you can expect excellent service during your stay. Each room here is uniquely decorated and named accordingly, and each offers extremely comfortable beds, marble bathrooms, internet access, satellite cable TV, direct-dial telephones, a safe, a non-alcohol mini-bar, coffee and tea makers, and free daily pastries, which is a nice touch. Should you want to dine here, there are set meals offered daily, and you can have your meal served in a variety of different areas at the hotel, such as the Pool Pavilion and the Dining Terrace. You might be surprised at how good the rates here are, all things considered, and you simply won't find a more accommodating and friendly staff. Choose the House of Waine as your Nairobi hotel, and you'll likely be quite impressed by it all.
