Should you be visiting Nakuru to see the pink flamingos that flock to Lake Nakuru, you can make a day trip from Nairobi and then head back to one of the Nairobi hotels, but if you have the time and don't want to rush around, there are some nice Nakuru accommodation options available to visitors. There may not be an abundance of Nakuru hotels, but the area lodges add nicely to the overall lodging scene, so you should be able to find accommodations here to fit your preference. The following are some Nakuru lodging recommendations that will help you find the right place to stay during your Nakuru trip.
The Merica Hotel is a great pick for Nakuru hotels located in the heart of town, and though it's not overly luxurious, it is arguably the most upscale hotel in the city. Well-priced, and offering comfortable rooms and nice facilities, you can expect a pleasant stay here. The rooms are all pretty spacious, offering ensuite bathrooms with tubs and showers. Nice beds, air-conditioning, a small work desk, and plenty of clean towels are some of the room amenities, and though the channel selection is limited, there are televisions in each room. The rooms are spread over ten floors and surround the main atrium. Two elevators service the floors, and there are doormen to help you with your luggage should you need. There is a decent outdoor pool here, as well as a beauty parlor, health club facilities, and a massage parlor, and area tours can be booked through the hotel, including visits to nearby Lake Nakuru. There is a restaurant on-site, and you can also grab some snacks and refreshments out by the pool. There is limited guarded parking available for those who have rented a car.
Located in one of the safer and quieter parts of Nakuru, Kenya is the Nakuru Kiti Guest House, which is family-owned and operated. Guests here will enjoy a very authentic Kenyan experience, and all the main attractions are within easy reach. The rates here fall into the middle of the general range for Nakuru hotels, and breakfast is included in the price. There are just 5 rooms here, so you won't feel lost among a large number of fellow travelers, and 4 of these rooms are doubles. Each room features coffee and tea making facilities, wardrobes, color TV, and mosquito nets. 3 of the rooms at this charming Nakuru accommodation option have ensuite bathrooms, so you might consider renting one of those if they are available. When you're not relaxing in your room, or heading out to do a bit of exploring, shopping, or dining, perhaps, you can always relax on the Nakuru Kiti Guest House lawn, and come evening, you can enjoy dinner in the dining area if you request ahead of time. Baby-sitting and laundry services are available here, and there is ample parking for those driving in.
There are two lodges to choose from in Lake Nakuru National Park, one of which is the aptly named Lake Nakuru Lodge. The accommodations at this excellent Nakuru lodging facility range from family rooms, suites, and cottages, all of which are pretty luxurious. A decidedly African decor dominates throughout, and the guest rooms and cottages are well-decorated, featuring wood furnishings and nice ensuite bathrooms. Mosquito nets are provided for the beds, and complimentary toiletries and mineral water are supplied for comfort and convenience. There is a nice restaurant here, and you can have meals catered pretty much anywhere on the grounds, and the bar is an excellent place to hang out after a full day. An attractive outdoor pool provides refreshment for those looking to relax a bit, and live entertainment is provided at night, which is a nice touch. The service here is excellent, and since a variety of animals roam the grounds from time to time, it makes for a nice overall Kenyan experience. Among the activities you can enjoy here are game drives, birdwatching, and horseback riding safaris.
Located on a plateau that overlooks beautiful Lake Nakuru, the Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge offers guests a nice, relaxing haven that is far enough out of the way to ensure privacy. Guests at this top-rated Nakuru lodging establishment can enjoy things like game drives, dining in the bush, and rejuvenating massages. Perhaps you'll be up for a cocktail at Baboon Cliff as the sun sets on another lovely Kenya day. There are 67 chalets at the Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge, and spread throughout them are 64 guest rooms and 3 suites. Each room has a private shower and bathroom, a balcony from which to take in the excellent views, and tea and coffee makers are provided for when you need a little pick-me-up. Elegantly decorated, the rooms are quite nice, and the suites offer fireplaces and plenty of space, should you be interested. The restaurant at this great Nakuru accommodation choice offers international and local cuisine, and it's patio overlooks the hotel pool and lounge. There is also a nice bar here featuring entertainment that is most often provided by local guitarists, so it's not overly obtrusive. The Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge is one of the more expensive hotels in Nakuru Kenya, but it"s still quite affordable considering the wonderful experience it delivers.
