Rabat Hotels

The Rabat hotels offer some lodging gems that should prove attractive to visitors to Morocco's capital city. Travelers who are interested in staying at one of the upscale hotels in Rabat will find that most are located in the ville nouvelle area. Some of the top Rabat accommodation establishments come in the form of "riads," which are essentially Moroccan guesthouses that are often more appealing than hotels here. As for cheap accommodations, they abound in this pleasant, coastal city. Most can be found in and around the medina, and while they are basic, they are hard to beat when saving on lodging in Rabat is a main priority. Most travelers only book a one-night stay at one of the Rabat hotels, and since most of the city's lodging establishments often fill up in the afternoon, booking a room during the morning hours is a good idea.

Housed in a former mansion, Villa Mandarine is easily one of the most attractive hotels in Rabat. It is also one of the most luxurious, offering tasteful guest units that are well appointed. There are 36 total guest units at Villa Mandarine, and six come in the form of larger suites. All are uniquely decorated and boast quality furnishings, satellite TV, a safe, a mini refrigerator, internet access, and air conditioning. Each guest unit also features a balcony with views of the central courtyard. Palms and a fountain adorn the courtyard. Villa Mandarine enjoys a wonderful location, and its grounds are full of flowers and orange trees. Inside the main house, a relaxing living room, a billiard room, and a bar figure among the facilities that guests can enjoy. Villa Mandarine also features an excellent restaurant that is known for its savory international cuisine. Services that are available to the guest for an extra fee include airport transfers, laundry, parking, car rentals, and room service.

Riads, which are Moroccan hotels that are akin to guesthouses, figure among the best Rabat accommodation options, and few, if any, are better than Riad Oudaya. This relatively upscale lodging establishment is tucked away on a quiet street in the medina. An attractive, tiled courtyard with a bubbling fountain helps to set the stage for romance, as do the iron lanterns that softly illuminate the hotel's signature restaurant. Much like Villa Mandarine, Riad Oudaya is known for offering fine cuisine. Meals often highlight produce and seafood that comes from the area, and they can be prepared according to specific requests should guests desire. Riads aren't the largest hotels in Morocco, and this one only features four guest units, so booking ahead is a good idea. Two of the four guest units at Riad Oudaya are larger suites. Both of the suites and one of the smaller rooms boast fireplaces. A colorful and attractive décor characterizes each guest unit, and the lack of televisions and mini bars is intentional. The hotel strives to make its guests focus on other things, such as its peaceful environment and its tempting food.

The Riad Oudaya has a sister property that is also one of the top hotels in Rabat, and it offers a similar experience at a lesser price. Those who are looking to save on rates at one of the city's riads might also find the Riad Kalaa to be favorable. Whether you're dropping into town for a while or you just need a good place to stay for a night before heading off to destinations like Fes and Tangier, the Riad Kalaa can make for a comfortable base. Found near the Kasbah des Oudayas, this mid-price hotel offers four rooms that are charming, warm, and all around inviting. High quality curtains, natural tile flooring, and fragrant cedar furnishings add to the soothing setting in the guestrooms. Wi-Fi is available in the guest units, as is a safe deposit box, and the private bathrooms feature either a tub or shower.

While there are a number of mid-price and discount Rabat hotels that can save travelers some money, most leave a lot to be desired. That's not the case at Hotel Splendid, however. Widely considered to be the best of the city's cheap hotels, Hotel Splendid enjoys a fine location in the heart of town. Once a grand hotel, it surrounds a beautiful courtyard, which the quietest rooms face. The cheapest rooms here are devoid of private bathrooms, though they do have hot-water sinks. As for the more expensive units, they are equipped with relatively new bathrooms. High ceilings can be found in the cheery rooms, and while the amenities are limited, the rates are nearly impossible to top.
