Tangier Hotels

The Tangier hotels have long presented travelers with a range of options to fit most budgets. The bulk of the hotels in Tangier can be found outside the medina, and many of the budget establishments are near this old district. In addition to finding cheap accommodations near the medina, visitors can also look near the port. Some of the cheapest Tangier accommodation options come in the form of pensions, which are within a short walk from the port entrance. These lodging establishments, which are akin to hostels, offer low frills rooms that are hard to beat in terms of price. Interestingly enough, those who are interested in cheap lodging in Tangier can also go camping. About a mile west of the city center is Camping Miramonte, which offers some relatively peaceful hillside spots that can accommodate tents, cars, and camper vans.

Many of the upscale Tangier hotels can be found near the city's beaches, and they include the Hotel Rif, which used to be a favorite of Winston Churchill. Unfortunately, the hotel fell into disrepair, though recent renovations have served to restore much of its luster. The guestrooms, which are among the most attractive in town, received modern updates, and guests will enjoy satellite TV. Air conditioning, free internet access, a telephone, and complimentary bath products also figure among the amenity highlights. Outside of the rooms, guests at the Hotel Rif will find an attractive pool set in a grotto, two reputable restaurants, and a poolside bar that can be an ideal place to enjoy some nightlife once the sun goes down. It only takes a few minutes to walk to the medina from the Hotel Rif, which helps to make it an attractive Tangier accommodation, and the walk to the beach is even shorter.

While the Hotel Rif offers well-equipped rooms and relatively complete facilities, those who are wishing to enjoy a stay at an even more luxurious hotel will likely prefer the El Minzah Hotel. Built by a British aristocrat in 1930, El Minzah is one of the most renowned hotels in Morocco, and it has hosted more than its fair share of luminaries. The rooms are spacious at the landmark El Minzah, and they are also well-equipped. Standard in-room amenities include satellite TV, a hair dryer, air conditioning, and a mini refrigerator. While the rooms could use an update, they are still worth their high ranking, as is the hotel in general. There are numerous amenities and facilities to take advantage of during a stay at this historic establishment, and they include a wellness center/spa, a large pool, an excellent bar, and a wine bar that specializes in light fare. Three restaurants round out the facilities, and breakfast is included in the rates.

The Hotel Rif and the El Minzah Hotel are two fine Tangier hotels, though the La Tangerina might be the city's best overall lodging option. This Tangier accommodation only has ten rooms to offer, so booking ahead is an especially good idea. All of the rooms surround an attractive central courtyard, and the hotel features a rooftop terrace that is amazing. This terrace offers immaculate views of the city's medina and of the Strait of Gibraltar. Mint tea and cakes are provided to guests on the terrace in the afternoon. Breakfast is also included in the rates. The La Tangerina Hotel was restored, and it boasts an attractive décor throughout. All of the guest units are warm and exude a true sense of Arabia. While the in-room amenities aren't overflowing, they do include cool antique radios, private bathrooms with hot showers, and free Wi-Fi. The restaurant at the Tangerina Hotel serves breakfast and dinner, so guests won't have to go far to enjoy a meal. Rounding out the facilities is a wellness center that offers spa-like treatments. Charming and attractive in so many ways, the La Tangerina is not to be overlooked when looking for hotels in Tangier. Anyone interested in this charming boutique hotel is also bound to find interest in the Hotel Nord-Pinus Tanger or the Riad Tanja, both of which offer similar experiences.

The Tangier hotels are affordably priced on the whole. There are lots of good mid-price hotels in Tangier that offer good rooms at a good price, and they include the Hotel Rembrandt. This is one of the most reliable mid-range hotels in town, and it can be found in the heart of the ville nouvelle, or newer district. Breakfast is included in the rates at the Hotel Rembrandt, and while it isn't the most complete breakfast, it will help travelers get their energy up for tours of the medina and the kasbah. There are 64 guest rooms, five suites, and an apartment-style unit at the Hotel Rembrandt, and they are all colorful and cheery. Relatively modern, the guest units feature satellite TV and direct-dial telephones. Other in-room amenities include a desk, a comfortable sitting room, and a private bathroom. As for the overall hotel amenities, they include a small outdoor pool and patio area, a bar, and a restaurant.
