Praslin Island is the second-largest in the Seychelles
after Mahe, and it is also one
of the more developed islands in the archipelago.
That doesn’t mean that it’s overdeveloped,
however, but the Praslin accommodation
choices do offer a pretty complete variety. There
are some guesthouse and hostel options for those interested
in cheap Praslin lodging, and all in all, there are choices
to fit a range of budgets. Many visitors to Praslin
Island choose to stay in one of the upscale resorts,
which are a bit pricy, but there are also some good mid-priced
Praslin hotels if you want a nice experience but are looking
to spend a bit less. Should you be headed to Praslin
Island in the near future, you might appreciate the following
recommendations for Praslin hotels, which if nothing else,
should give you an idea of the kinds of choices you can
expect.
Found next to the Praslin airport, and close to a discotheque,
a bus station, and some local shops, the Le Relax Beach
Resort is a good Praslin accommodation choice for those
who want to save money on their Seychelles lodging.
The rooms here, of which there are only ten, are pretty
simple, though they are quite comfortable and amenity-laden
considering the low price. Each room features a
private, ensuite bathroom, color TV with in-house movies,
A/C units with remote controls, ceiling fans, a small
safe, and a hair dryer. 24-hour hot/cold water is
available, and guests can request a mini-bar or a baby
cot if they so desire. For a small fee, in-room
dining can be enjoyed, and the restaurant here serves
up some good Indo-Seychellois fare. There is a bar
on-site, and the friendly staff here can help you plan
a list of fun things to do,
such as snorkeling, scuba
diving, or fishing. Should the Le Relax Beach Resort
in Praslin interest you, you might also consider the sister
property on Mahe Island if you are in need of Mahe hotels.
The Paradise Sun Resort is an excellent value among
the Praslin hotels, offering enough in the way of luxury
to make you wonder if you shouldn’t be paying a
bit more. Found next to Cote d’or Beach, where
some of the best Praslin hotels are located, you’ll
enjoy a variety of watersports opportunities when staying
here, and on Wednesday nights, the hotel offers a complimentary
sunset cruise. There is a nice beach bar here where
complimentary snacks and refreshments are offered in the
afternoon. At night, the bar gets more lively, and
the nearby casino offers some more nightlife excitement.
Some guests might prefer to relax on the hotel deck with
a drink in hand after a fun day on Praslin Island.
There aren’t televisions in the rooms, but otherwise,
they are all comfortable and well-decorated. You
can choose to stay in one of the standard rooms, or opt
for the larger deluxe rooms, all of which feature ceiling
fans, A/C, complimentary bathing products, in-room safes,
telephones, coffee/tea making facilities, and hair dryers.
Cots can be “rented” free of charge, and rates
include some meals, which is typical of many Seychelles

on your list of possible Praslin hotels.
As great as the Praslin resorts can be, the smaller
Le Duc de Praslin Hotel is worth looking into if your
budget allows for more luxurious Praslin hotels.
Re-opening on July 1, 2008, the Le Duc de Praslin has
undergone recent renovations that will only help it to
seal its place among the best small hotels in the Seychelles.
23 spacious rooms are on offer here, and among them are
5 suites that are ideal for honeymooners and families.
All of the rooms and suites offer new ensuite bathrooms,
satellite cable TV, A/C, ceiling fans, wireless internet
access, mini-bars, safes, and more. As if the original
restaurant here wasn’t good enough, there are now
two, with one set right on the beach. There is a
small, yet alluring beach spa for relaxing and rejuvenating
treatments, and after hiking
through the Vallee de Mai,
perhaps, the poolside Jacuzzi should prove ideal for tired
muscles. Also on-site here is one of the most renowned
gardens in all of Praslin. Among the garden highlights
are the varieties of Orchids, of which there are more
than 100, and the resident giant tortoises, of which there
are half a dozen. All kinds of fun excursions can
be planned with the help of the hotel staff, which is
known for its excellence. You might visit the aforementioned
Vallee de Mai, or perhaps enjoy a day of fishing
or scuba diving.
Though it might not fit into everyone’s budget,
the Constance Lemuria Resort is certainly among the top
Praslin resorts, especially if you like golf. There
are three championship golf courses that guests at the
resort can play for free, and the views are simply breathtaking.
The resort’s restaurants are also noted for their
excellence, so dining won’t be much of a concern,
and families will find the Lemuria Resort to be one of
the more family-friendly Praslin resorts. The “Turtle
Club” is a kids club that offers all kinds of fun
diversions for those ages 4-12. Spa treatments might
be just what your after once you see the immaculate spa
here, and when it comes to the accommodations, you’d
be hard-pressed to find much better among the Praslin
lodging choices. There are 96 suites and 9 villas
at the Constance Lemuria Resort, and all exude elegance.
Standard amenities here include spacious, modern bathrooms,
A/C, ceiling fans, luxurious bedding, satellite cable
TV, CD and DVD players, coffee/tea makers, telephones,
sea views, and private terraces. Bump up to one
of the villas, and you’ll get even more, including
a private pool. Like all the top Praslin accommodation
choices, the Lemuria Resort offers an array of activities
for guests to arrange and enjoy, from boating to tennis.
