Sihanoukville Cambodia

Sihanoukville Cambodia lies on the southern coast hugged on three sides by the Gulf of Thailand. Hilly and scenic, it is defined by some of the best beaches in Cambodia. Sihanoukville is the best place to admire the many small islands off the picturesque coast, take in quality beach time, and party. There are myriad things to do, from serious sun time to tons of ocean-related activities including diving, snorkeling, and fishing. Nightlife is vibrant, exploring the market and downtown is exciting, and local Buddhist temples are inspiring.

Sihanoukville Cambodia hotels include a gamut of choices from rock bottom cheap to ultra expensive. Hotels and bungalows on and near the beach range from a mere few bucks to more than a thousand if you crave some true indulgence. Around Victory and Ochheuteal Beaches there are many affordable guesthouses. Sokha Beach’s amazing Sokha Resort is the priciest - you do get what you pay for. The options downtown number in the dozens, with both guesthouses and hotels only a few minutes’ drive from several beaches -including the departure point for Kampong Saom beaches. For a few dollars, a cheap guesthouse is easily available. Low-priced accommodations are abundant near Victory Beach hill and around Serendipity and Ochheuteal Beaches. Many are nicer than others, so do look before committing. Mid-range generally includes TV, air conditioning, private bathrooms, and a small fridge. Indulging means fewer (yet admirable) choices; Sihanoukvile is home to a 4-star resort occupying almost a mile of beachfront. There are also several high end waterfront hotels and resorts starting at around what a cheaper hotel might cost in the west.

From northwest to southeast, some of the best beaches in Cambodia are on the outskirts of Sihanoukville. There are more than a half-dozen beaches, each with a distinct look and feel. Ochheuteal Beach is one of the most popular, located on the main south stretch tucked in alongside Independence (the quietest option) and Sokha (private) Beaches. Ochheuteal is about a mile long and filled with chairs and beach kiosks. Plenty of food and drink choices are present with lots of traditional Khmer and western foods available. On the west side, Victory Beach is the tourist spot with plenty to choose from in the way of local tours, boat trips, restaurants (many specializing in seafood), and hotels. On the east side, Serendipity Beach is the main tourist hub with great shopping and direct trips to Kampong Saom and several other islands. Kampong Saom is off the west coast and is home to three islands; Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samlon offer great stretches of white sand beaches away from the city beach crowds while the third, Koh Tang, is occupied by the military.

Sihanoukville Nightlife

Like any beach town, Sihanoukville Cambodia offers a lively and diverse evening scene that goes late into the night and into the wee hours at many bars and clubs. Party town it is indeed. Ochheuteal Beach is one of the best beaches in Cambodia for beach parties, with lots of venues pumping out tunes and offering drinks and food all night. Plenty of bars to choose from where Ochheuteal meets Serendipity Beach in the north. The beaches here are literally lined with small restaurants and bars with tables directly on the beach by the water. At Victory Hill, or 'The Hill' as it’s known, is mainly a collection of hostess bars plagued by prostitution. Key here is being careful at night and not walking alone, as many bars are spread out and streets remain fairly dark, with (fairly obvious) undertones of drugs and prostitution.
