Sichuan Food - Sichuan cuisine, or Szechuan cuisine, as it is also commonly known, originated in the southwestern China province of Sichuan. Among other things, it is known for its spiciness and its employment of Sichuan flower peppers that cause a numbing-tingling sensation in the mouth. Sichuan Province visitors who aren't exactly fond of spicy dishes shouldn't fret. There are many Sichuan recipes that call for a small use of hot spices or no hot spices at all. An example of a non-spicy dish is Tea Smoked Duck. Either way, manifold flavoring is often the aim when it comes to Sichuan food. In other words, the diner is supposed to detect a variety of subtle tastes.
