People of China

People From Yunnan – The people from Yunnan Province are known for their ethnic diversity. In fact, within China, only the province of Xinjiang is home to more ethnic groups. In other words, anyone who visits Yunnan Province can expect to encounter many different kinds of people. There's more to Yunnan than its human diversity, however. Other things that make it an increasingly popular place to visit for foreigners are its wonderfully scenic landscapes, its rather mild climate, and historic structures such as the Shangrila Songzanlin Monastery (partly represented here in the photo backdrop). Commonly referred to as the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, it was founded in the year 1679 and is the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan Province.
