Dali Three Pagodas Complex. Less than a mile north of Dali is the Three Pagodas complex. A popular tourist attraction, the complex boasts three independent pagodas that were built more than 1,000 years ago. It is also home to a temple (pictured). The Chongsheng Temple, as this temple is known, is a major Asian Buddhist center and features several prayer halls. The original Chongsheng Temple was formerly the royal temple of the Kingdom of Dali, it should be noted. Unfortunately, it fell victim to fire. The temple that Three Pagodas visitors encounter today was built in 2005.
