Lijiang. Set in northwestern Yunnan Province is the inviting city of Lijiang. Travelers come here mostly with the intent of seeing the historic Old Town district, and Lijiang is wonderfully surrounded by splendid mountain scenery. Thanks to its attractive architecture and its blending of different cultural elements, the Old Town of Lijiang was designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. While exploring the historic streets, visitors are encouraged to wander over to the main square at some point. It has a wonderful atmosphere, especially when the evening lights come on. Another major point of interest in the Lijiang Old Town is the MuFu Palace. It sits gracefully against the backdrop of Shizi Mountain.
