Delhi Airport

Note: The Delhi airport's new terminal is expected to be completed in 2010.

Delhi airport is the second-largest airport in India. Although it handles fewer passengers daily than the international airport in Mumbai, it does have more daily flights. For travelers, this means that an affordable ticket to New Delhi airport may be readily available. Flights to Delhi International airport originate in many American cities, including Miami, New York, Atlanta, and Boston. Depending on the season of travel, it is often possible to find an affordable flight from these cities to the airport in New Delhi. The facility's full name is Indira Gandhi International Airport, after the former prime minister of India who was assassinated in 1984.

The Airport Authority of India maintains the standards of the Delhi airport. Similar to the Mumbai airport, different terminals handle domestic and international flights. Travelers could be arriving and departing from different terminals if they choose to continue their exploration of India via air travel as opposed to trains; domestic flights can be found to numerous cities, including Jaipur, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. While the Mumbai airport has succeeded in modernizing quicker than the New Delhi airport, passengers can still expect the major services of an international airport. Many connecting flights to other areas of India will originate at Delhi International airport, making it possible to explore other areas the country during a single trip to India. Low-cost carriers have helped to make this an affordable form of domestic transportation, similar to India's trains and buses.
