Thailand Cheap Hotels

With hundreds of beautiful white-sand beaches and stunning inland scenery, almost any location in Thailand is a great one for a vacation, with access to beaches, swimming, diving, trekking, and beautiful views at a large range of prices. Most cheap accommodation in Thailand offers budget rooms at the sacrifice of prime beachfront real estate, proximity to large tourist centers, and of course, less luxury. Nevertheless, if you are willing to go a little ways off the beaten track, some good-value Thailand cheap hotels are to be found. Large cities offer a larger variety of budget accommodation, so for example it is quite a bit easier to find a cheap hotel in Bangkok than in a purely tourist area such as Pattaya or Phuket.

Bhiman Inn

The backpacker area of Khao San Road is the best place to go if you are looking for a cheap hotel in Bangkok. Khao San Road offers a variety of guesthouses, Thailand hostels, and budget hotels with varying degrees of service, cleanliness, and value. One cheap hotel in Bangkok that has consistently received good reviews is the Bhiman Inn, a boutique inn in the historic area of Bangkok. Well-located close to several museums and ancient temples, Bhiman Inn offers basic and clean accommodation with Thai decorative touches, and the swimming pool, luggage storage service, and charming restaurant make it an excellent budget to mid-range option. Keep in mind that many Thailand hostels spring up and go out of business almost overnight, so always ask to see the room, and check to see if air-conditioning and other amenities are available and working.

Samed Cliff Resort

Some great options for finding Thailand cheap hotels are lesser-known and less touristy areas such as the coast of Rayong, which offers many bungalows and Thailand hostels on its 60-plus miles of modest beaches. Even Koh Samet, the most popular island off the coast of Rayong, has some mid-range and budget options. The Samed Cliff Resort, for instance (pictured at top), offers simple but charming bungalows set on a hillside overlooking a private beach and the ocean. With beautiful views and an excellent location, it is a great choice for cheap accommodation in Thailand. Other lesser-known locations include Koh Phangnan, an island close to Koh Samui, which is highly popular among budget travelers and backpackers. Travelers can choose between Thailand hostels right in the midst of the parties and bars, or more isolated bungalow resorts around the beaches that encircle the island.

Veranda Lodge

In Hua Hin, one of the most highly rated choices among Thailand cheap hotels is the small boutique hotel Veranda Lodge . Located about fifteen minutes' walk to town, Veranda Lodge features a great location with easy access to the beach as well as a swimming pool, restaurants, and attentive service.

In the north of Thailand, many cheap hotels, guesthouses, and hostels can be found, as the north tends to attract hikers, trekkers, and backpackers rather than the all-inclusive resort type of traveler. Many guesthouses offer dirt-cheap accommodation if you book a tour or a trek with them, but make sure you inspect the room before agreeing to stay.

In general, excellent value for accommodation can be found here—many Thailand cheap hotels are cheap for Westerners, with relatively high value in service, spas and massages, and food. As long as travelers are discerning and aware, they can easily book excellent cheap accommodation in Thailand for the perfect vacation.
