Thailand Golf

Thailand is known as a golfer’s paradise in Southeast Asia. Thailand golf courses allow visitors to enjoy playing golf while exploring the country as well, and many tours can be arranged around combining Thailand golf with visits to temples, snorkeling trips, and even lessons at Thai cooking schools. Across the country, from Chiang Mai and Bangkok to Phuket, golf enthusiasts can work on their swing while enjoying other famous Thai attractions. For much of the year, sunshine will accompany each day on the course, but some visitors may not be prepared for the heat.

Thailand golf courses offer frequent watering stations for golfers to stay hydrated, so be sure to take advantage of these when playing. Despite the heat, Thailand golf remains attractive because of the value for money it offers. Staying in luxury hotels and playing designer courses is possible here for a fraction of what it would cost in other popular vacation destinations. This fact has increased the popularity of golfing in Thailand. One day you could be golfing in Phuket; the next day you could be scuba diving off its shores.

Many travelers to the famous beach resort Phuket originally come for the beaches and don’t know that the island also has excellent golf courses. The island is home to Blue Canyon Country Club. Golfing in Phuket is at its pinnacle in the two courses of this country club: the canyon course and the lakes course. If you had in mind a more relaxed day of golf, the flat and less challenging course at Laguna Phuket golf club might be a good match. The newest option for golfing in Phuket is the Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort and Spa designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Chiang Mai

If you’re traveling in the north of Thailand, it is still possible to play golf. Chiang Mai golf offers great courses and close proximity to culture, delicious cuisine, and beautiful landscapes. Chiang Mai and the nearby province of Chiang Rai have a variety of options for Thailand golf. For instance, Chiang Mai Green Valley Country Club is known for its challenging water obstacles while Chiang Mai Highlands Golf and Spa Resort is earning a reputation for being one of the best in the region. For golfers who are seeking a particularly challenging place to play, the Chiang Mai Lamphun golf course is located in a hilly area.

Visitors may be surprised to know that there are 40 Thailand golf courses around Bangkok. Played by professionals including Tiger Woods, Alpine Golf and Sports Club is known as one of the best courses in the country. The Bangkok Golf Club offers the only hole in Asia with a waterfall while the capital city's Green Valley Country Club is challenging and in close proximity to the airport. The Legacy Golf club is Bangkok’s only Jack Nicklaus-designed course. At many clubs, night golf is offered as well. Research is required beforehand, as some of these most popular clubs are private and for members only. This is a reason why visitors may want to book a golf tour for their vacation to Thailand, which may grant them access to some private clubs.
