Mt Buller

Mt Buller is a popular ski resort located in the Victorian Alps in Australia. It is an alluring destination for many Australians from Melbourne who like to ski and snowboard as well as international travelers because it is the closest ski resort to any international airport in the country. Mt Buller is a short three-hour drive from Melbourne, making it easy enough to hit the ski resort for a day or weekend trip, but far enough away to turn into a full-blown ski holiday should you choose to do so.

The Mt Buller Resort Village is located at the heart of the mountain itself and features over 7,000 beds in a variety of accommodations, from hotels and lodges, to inns and condominiums. You can even rent your very own Mt Buller Chalet if you wish to make your ski vacation a bit more tranquil and serene. The resort village is awesome and has activities to keep everyone in your group happy the entire trip. There are over 30 bars and restaurants located in the village and lots of opportunities for great shopping and live entertainment. But as great as all of the added amenities are, the real excitement begins on the slopes at Mt Buller.

Skiers and snowboarders alike will definitely get their kicks on the 741 acres of skiable terrain at the resort. The top elevation is 1,804 feet with a vertical drop of 405 feet. The longest run at Mt Buller is one mile. There are three terrain parks that are especially appealing the boarders who will enjoy all kinds of bumps, rails, and jumps, as well as a half pipe. You can also rent and buy gear, go night skiing, or take sightseeing sky rides. Kids will enjoy tubing, trail rides, and indoor games. There is also an ultra cross course for Nordic skiing. Twenty percent of the ski runs at Mt Buller are for beginners. 45 percent are for intermediates, and 35 percent are for experts. This just goes to show that you do not have to have a 6,000-foot peak to make for some very challenging and exhilarating ski runs.

Finding Mt Buller accommodations will not be the problem. Rather, the difficulty may come from having to pick between all of the alluring options. There are a wide variety of Mt Buller accommodations that offer a ski guarantee. This means that you get your money back if there is no snow. This usually is not a problem at this resort however. Whether you choose from a Mt Buller chalet or rental home, hotel or lodge, you are sure to have a memorable time at this enviable destination in Victoria.
