Perth Zoo

The Perth Zoo is one of the most popular attractions in Western Australia. A modern zoo, it offers wonderful habitats for its numerous animals, and the animals themselves hail from virtually every corner of the globe. Wonderful plant exhibits only serve to complement the animal exhibits, and it should be mentioned that the zoo in Perth plays host to a variety of fun events throughout the year.

Those who include a visit to the Perth Zoo on their Australia vacation itinerary will have the chance to get a good look at many of the country’s most iconic animals. Kangaroos, wombats, koalas, dingos, quokkas, wallabies, and Tasmanian devils are just some of the native creatures that are on display. It should also be noted that this is a good place to go if you want to see a numbat. The mammal emblem of Western Australia, the numbat is a curious marsupial that likes to eat insects and prefers to be active during the daylight hours.

Short-beaked echidnas, emus, penguins, lions, meerkats, and elephants are just some of the other animals that are on display at the Perth Zoo. As for the numerous plants, they include different kinds of bamboo, a shrub known as the firewood banksia, peppermint trees, and large reeds that have been used by humans for centuries. In relation to the Perth Zoo events, they include guided walks, animal discussions, and concerts, among other things. Summer is the peak event season at the zoo.

The Perth Zoo can be found at 20 Labouchere Road in South Perth. It is open every day of the year, as has been the case since it opened back in 1898, and it's been considered among the best Perth attractions for many years. The hours are 9 am to 5 pm, and the admission fees allow visitors to enjoy a variety of fun things, such as guided walking tours of the grounds and special animal shows. Some tours and activities cost extra. An example of this are the very affordable "Zebra" tours, which see guests exploring the grounds in electric vehicles that are painted with zebra stripes.
