Advantage Rent a Car is a private rental car company based in San Antonio, Texas. They provide leisure, business, government, and local customers with a wide array of services in more than 150 locations in the US, and 130 locations in 33 countries around the world. Advantage Rent a Car, with a fleet of only five cars, opened its doors in 1963. It was originally called “Three Ninety-Nine Car Rentals,” and it grew quite quickly over the next 20 years. Then, in 1985, the name changed —Advantage Rent a Car. Initially serving government travelers visiting military personnel in the San Antonio area, they expanded by developing towards local retail and airport markets. Expansion of the Advantage car rental brand continues throughout the US and into the major airport markets. In 2001, Advantage gained international recognition by launching a partnership program that has blossomed to a worldwide network. They have also recently partnered with major airlines and hotels. The founders, Kenneth and Helen Walker, sold the company to ARC Venture Holdings in 2006.

Advantage Rent a Car offers similar discounts and rates as other car rental companies. They also have special rates for senior citizens, military personnel, and members of their Easy ID auto club. Easy ID is Advantage Rent a Car’s loyalty program, which entitles you to earn free rentals and receives certain perks. After just 12 days of rentals, you can earn a free day of rental, and more frequent renters could receive other privileges such as easy rental and return.

Advantage Rent-A-Car primarily focuses their marketing on their home territory. The company operates a fleet of about 15,000 Advantage rent a cars, mostly the Southwest US. They have rolled out the Advantage Green Rewards program, where rewards can be redeemed for a variety of Advantage Rent a Car products and services, as well as travel certificates. You can also donate your points to a green charity of your choice. For each day that a vehicle is rented, 50 reward points is sent to your account. Advantage Green Rewards don’t expire until you redeem them. If you don’t travel often, there is no need to worry. You don’t need to save for years trying to get a free rental. You can save $15.00 off of one class upgrade with just 180 points.
