Montana is a state in the northwestern US, in the Rocky Mountains region. Often called Big Sky Country for its famed big, blue skies, Montana is home to wide open flat regions in the East and the towering peaks in the West. Many destinations are spread out, even within major cities, making a Montana rent a car the easiest and most convenient way to get around. Look for great deals on Montana car rentals and save time and money for popular outdoor activities like fly-fishing, horse-back riding, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and rafting. Billings is the largest city in Montana, served by Billings Logan International Airport. Montana car rentals are available in the terminal here from Enterprise, Thrifty, Dollar, National, Alamo, and Hertz, or via complementary shuttle from Budget and Avis. Other options include Belgrade Airport, located in Bozeman, the fastest growing city in the state; Helena Airport, located in Helena, the state capital; Billings Logan International, outside Billings, the gateway to Yellowstone; Missoula International Airport, located in Missoula at the heart of Glacier County; and Glacier Park International, located in Kalispell, the gateway to Glacier National Park. Many car rental agencies also offer additional locations downtown, usually at lower rates than those at the airports, and near popular tourist attractions, like the resorts of Big Sky. You must present a valid driver's license and credit card issued in your name at most Montana rental car agencies (although some will take a cash deposit depending on a credit check), along with proof of insurance if you decline the vendor's coverage options. Usually age requirements for a rent a car are 21 for compact and economy cars, 25 for all others, and an additional young driver charge may apply for anyone under 25 (select agencies will rent to qualifying individuals over 18 for an additional fee). Be advised that road conditions in Montana can be very hazardous in the winter, so consider your vehicle accordingly, and exercise extra caution if you are not accustomed to driving winding mountain roads or in extreme weather conditions.
