The Abaco Islands make up one section of island in the Bahamas. A collection of cities feature a variety of Abaco beach resorts, Abaco hotels, and Abaco beach villas. Depending on the city you would like to be in and whether you would rather stay in some kind of Abaco beach resort or Abaco beach villas, there are a number of price and accommodation options. Abaco beach resorts, Abaco hotels, and Abaco beach villas can be found throughout the various cities on the islands, which include Marsh Harbour, Elbow Cay, Treasure Cay, Walkers Cay, Spanish Cay and Green Turtle Cay.

Abaco Resorts

Abaco resorts and Abaco hotels can be found in just about every area of Abaco Island. Abaco resorts range in price and luxury, ranging from about $100 a night to as much as $800 a night. For the more expensive Abaco Bahamas hotels guests will usually have access to private beaches, room service, and all-inclusive restaurant service. Note that all-inclusive Abaco Bahamas hotel packages will usually cover breakfast, dinner, and drink service, but not lunch. If you plan to take any day trips or tours, your tour company will generally provide lunch, or you can check one of the many restaurants in the Bahamas.

In addition to luxury hotels and resorts, there are also some great family Abaco Bahamas hotels. Family resorts are almost all-inclusive, and will feature baby-sitting and activities specifically designed for children.

Abaco Beach Villas

Abaco has a surprisingly high number of private beach villas for rent along the beach. A few areas feature villas with long stretches of private beach, set back in the trees near the sand. Such luxury villas are not located near cities, so guests will usually need to rent a car once they arrive in the Bahamas. Abaco also has some smaller villa "villages" with multiple villas concentrated in one area. These villas will feature fewer rooms (usually two or three), but have the advantage of usually being closer to the cities. Also, villa villages will offer complimentary shuttle service to the beach if they are not located on the beach.

If you do book a private villa located far away from the busy crowds, you will need to book any tours and out island trips you plan to make on your own. A travel package that combines your villa rental with tours may be difficult to find (though not impossible), and you may want either book trips online before you go or book them when you arrive on the island. For the more popular tours like Dolphin Encounter, you are encouraged to book at least 10 days in advance of your desired tour date.

Whether you choose a villa, a hotel, or a resort, Abaco is a great place for a Bahamas destination. In general, Abaco is more quiet than Nassau or New Providence and an excellent choice for tourists who want to spend most of their time relaxing at the beach and kicking back with simple activities.
