Blue Lagoon Island Bahamas

Blue Lagoon Island Stingray City

Blue Lagoon Island Bahamas is warm little island located about 30 minutes from Paradise Island and Nassau Island.  At Blue Lagoon Island Bahamas, tourists can participate in a number of interactive programs.  Activities include Blue Lagoon dolphin encounters and the popular Stingray City Bahamas, where children and adults can swim with stingrays and other marine life.

Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter

Blue Lagoon dolphin encounter tours can be booked from both Nassau and Paradise Islands.  Tour prices include roundtrip boat passage from Paradise or Nassau to Blue Lagoon Island Bahamas.  The dolphin encounter Bahamas is a full day trip, and travelers should plan to leave early in the morning and return in the evening.

There are two different options for a Blue Lagoon dolphin encounter Bahamas.  The first is the Close Encounter option.  Program participants will stand on a platform in the water as dolphins swim up to them for petting, feeding, and other supervised interaction.  As mentioned, this option includes your passage to and from Blue Lagoon Island Bahamas, and is the less expensive of the two options.

The second option for a Blue Lagoon dolphin encounter Bahamas is the Swim with the Dolphins option.  As the name suggests, participants will not only have a chance to feed and pet the dolphins, but they will also be allowed to swim with the dolphins for about 30 minutes.  Participants of the swim with the dolphins program will also need to listen to an orientation before swimming with the mammals, which will provide information about how to interact with the dolphins.  The swim with the dolphins option is the more expensive option of the two.

Stingray City Bahamas

Stingray City Bahamas is also located in Blue Lagoon Island.  Passage to Blue Lagoon Island Bahamas can be booked from Nassau or Paradise Island, and are more prevalent from Nassau Island.  Although in recent years Stingray City Bahamas has experienced extensive damage due to hurricane storms, the park will be up and running again soon.

A Stingray City tour includes roundtrip passage to and from the island, as well as the chance to swim with friendly stingrays, groupers, tropical fish, moray eels, and crawfish.  Snorkel equipment will be provided, and participants will not only have the chance to swim with the marine life, but they can also feed and touch them in their natural habitat.  Educational orientation will be provided before your encounter.

Whether you choose to see the dolphins, the stingray, or both, there will be a few things you’ll want to remember to bring.  A waterproof camera is always a good idea, as well as sunscreen and any personal swim items you’d like to have with you.  You may book your trip in person once you have arrived in the Bahamas, but it is usually a good idea to reserve your spot early.  Reservations are taken online through a number of different Blue Lagoon tour companies.
