Perhaps the most popular resort hotel in Grand Bahama
for families is the Crowne Plaza Golf Resort and Casino
at the Royal Oasis. The resort includes a full range of
supervised activities for children ages 5-11 throughout
the day. This is the perfect way to allow the kids to
participate in organized beach and wildlife activities
while enjoying the other attractions in the area. The
Plaza also features an excellent golf course for parents,
and guests of the hotel receive a discount on the green
fees. The Crowne Plaza is located in Freeport.
Other popular Grand Bahama hotel resorts can be found along the beach in Lucaya or in the Freeport area. Resorts will almost always be all-inclusive. In addition to family friendly resorts, Grand Bahama Island also features some resorts just for honeymooners and couples, and children under age 16 will not be allowed in. Grand Bahama Island Hotels
Grand Bahama hotels are concentrated in either Freeport or Lucaya. Lucaya is closer to the beach, while Freeport is closer to the popular Bahamia Casino and the International Bazaar. Depending on what your vacation priorities are, you will want to consider which city location fits your needs best. There are budget and luxury Grand Bahama hotels located in both cities, and travelers should note that most hotels in Freeport do offer free shuttle service to the beach.
When choosing a hotel in Grand Bahama, you may also want to take into account the amount of time you plan to spend at the hotel itself. While there are many luxury hotels in the islands with plenty of great amenities, there are also great budget hotels. Unlike Paradise Island, Grand Bahama does have some very inexpensive choices for a hotel in Grand Bahama. Budget hotels can be found in the city in the downtown area, and travelers should be aware that island hotels do lose power and hot water at times, especially during hurricane season (June through November).
