San Salvador Island Hotels

San Salvador is one of the smallest inhabited islands in the Bahamas. About 1,000 people call the island of San Salvador home, and tourism is the main source of economy for those inhabitants. A handful of hotels line the beaches, and it is the beaches that have made San Salvador hotels popular for tourists. Booking a San Salvador hotel may be your entire vacation, or you may choose to spend a few nights at a San Salvador hotel before making your way to nearby Rum Cay or even Andros Island as part of a cruise or private boat rental.
Resorts and Hotel in San Salvador
Finding a hotel in San Salvador can happen quickly. There are not many San Salvador hotels to choose from. The nicest hotel in San Salvador is the Club Med-Columbus Isle hotel. Although Club Med has a reputation for luxurious resorts and hotels around the world, this is among the nicest of all Club Med's hotels. San Salvador accommodations at the Club Med hotel are luxurious. San Salvador accommodations at this particular Club Med are also geared specifically toward couples and adults. Although children are allowed, children under age 12 are not recommended, and the hotel offers no activities or facilities for children of any kind. San Salvador lodging at Club Med is not cheap, either. Weekly rates range from about $1,400 to $1,900, depending on the type of room and season during which you travel.
The second resort available for San Salvador accommodations is the Riding Rock Inn and Resort Marina. At the riding rock, San Salvador lodging is less luxurious then Club Med, and focuses more on the scuba diving crowd. For any divers or travelers hoping to become divers, the Riding Rock offers great San Salvador lodging and deals on scuba diving. There are even weekly diving packages offered by the hotel, which include meals, accommodation, and up to three dives a day for participants. If you plan to spend time scuba diving in the Bahamas, a stay at the Riding Rock in San Salvador is a great option.
Bed and Breakfasts in San Salvador
The small island of San Salvador also has a few excellent Bed and Breakfast locations. Though small, Bed and Breakfast accommodation on San Salvador Island can be a nice escape. With miles of beautiful beaches, San Salvador makes a great destination for travelers hoping to spend time relaxing and enjoying nature. A Bed and Breakfast is an excellent backdrop to such a vacation.
For the most part, San Salvador Island attracts scuba divers and travelers hoping to find some peace and quiet. Out island trips can be booked from San Salvador, though many of the most popular attractions such as Dolphin Encounters, and the Bacardi Distillery will be more difficult to access. Some travelers make San Salvador Island one of the stops on their private tour of the Bahamas, although this can be an expensive choice. If you would like to see tourist heavy areas such as Nassau, you may want to skip San Salvador.
