Things To Do In The Bahamas

Top Things To Do In The Bahamas

Once you have decided on the Bahamas as your vacation destination, you will likely be looking for information on some of the best things to do in the Bahamas. Whether this will be your first time to the Bahamas or your tenth, there are an incredible number of attractions in the Bahamas to fill up multiple vacations. Below is a list of the top things to do in the Bahamas with your vacation.

Scuba Dive

While Andros Island has earned a reputation as the best place to dive in the Bahamas, great scuba diving for all skill levels can be found on almost every island. Bahamas spring break packages that include diving are available, as are packages for people who want to make multiple dives on their vacation. Contact your travel agent or hotel staff to book a trip for popular diving attractions in the Bahamas.

Golfing

Grand Bahama Island is the current Mecca for golfing in the Bahamas. You can also find some great golf courses on Paradise Island, New Providence Island and more. Golfing is one of the most popular attractions in the Bahamas for beginners and more experienced golfers. If you plan to do a lot of golfing, you might consider a golfing travel package.

Dolphin Encounters

Located on Blue Lagoon Island, the Dolphin Encounters Company gives guests the opportunity to swim with dolphins. Guests can also pet, feed and dance with the dolphins. The Dolphin Encounter tour is one of the most popular things to do in the Bahamas, particularly among families. You will have the best luck booking this event if you do it in advance.

Hartley’s Undersea Walk

The undersea walk is a tour unlike any other. Participants are given a lead mask that weights them to the ocean floor in about 10 feet of water. Air is pumped into the mask and tourists can walk along the bottom of the ocean petting tropical fish and interacting with other marine life. Tour guides take pictures with waterproof digital cameras which are available for purchase after the tour.

Bacardi Distillery

The Bacardi Distillery offers daily tours at 11am and 2pm. The tour is free and guests will be given rum samples as they tour the distillery. A gift shop at the end of the tour has Bacardi rums on sale for a fraction of the cost anywhere else.

Queens Staircase

The Queens Staircase is the prominent stop on an historical walking tour of Nassau. Built by slave labor and cut out of a limestone wall, the Queens Staircase was built in 1793 and is 102 feet tall.

Versailles Gardens

Touring Versailles Gardens and the Cloisters it host is one of the most popular things to do in the Bahamas. Brought to the islands from France, the statues and art work that have been assembled in the gardens are exquisite. Although the area is located on private hotel grounds, it is open to the public free of charge and remains one of the top 10 things to do in the islands.

Blue Lagoon Island and Stingray City

In addition to the dolphin swim there are a number of things to do on Blue Lagoon Island. Stingray city offers a chance for tourists to swim with friendly stingray, eels and other interesting marine life. Guests will also have a chance to help feed the animals.

Beaches

No Bahamas spring break package or trip to the Bahamas at any time of the year is complete without some time spent at the beach. Whether you choose to visit the famous pink sand beaches of Harbour Island or just spend the afternoon at a beach near popular Nassau, there are beaches just about everywhere in the Bahamas.

Tours

Wildlife tours and out island tours are perhaps the most popular sorts of tours from the Bahamas. With more then 65 species of birds and hundreds of land and water creatures the Bahamas are an incredible place to see tropical wildlife in its natural habitat. You can also book a fishing tour or rent a private boat to plan a tour of your own making.

No matter how long you plan to spend in the Bahamas you should find time for at least a few of the activities mentioned. Bahamas spring break packages and other travel packages can be booked with tours in mind to take advantage of the most competitive rates.
