Flights to Grand Cayman can be direct or not, depending on where travelers are coming from. The majority of the direct flights to the largest island in the Cayman Islands originate out of the United States, Canada, the UK, and Jamaica. For those who don't find themselves in one of these countries, a layover will most likely be necessary. Grand Cayman is where the main Cayman Islands airport can be found, but the other islands have airports as well, making interisland travel easy. More often than not, Cayman Islands visitors who want to spend some time on Little Cayman or Cayman Brac arrive at the Grand Cayman airport first and hop on a small plane to make the transfer.
The west side of Grand Cayman is the busiest region in the Cayman Islands, and it's where the Owen Roberts Airport can be found. This pleasant airport is where the flights to Grand Cayman arrive, and once air travelers get on the ground, they'll be due east of Georgetown and just a short drive away from the powdery sands at Seven Mile Beach. Between Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach, hotels and resorts abound, as do vacation rentals. Since the majority of the hotels and resorts in this popular tourist area aren't allowed to provide shuttles for their guests, taking a taxi or renting a car are the only airport transportation options.
A handful of major airlines offer direct flights to Grand Cayman from a number of different countries, but that's not the only option when it comes to flying direct to the Cayman Islands. It's also possible to take direct flights to Cayman Brac, with the city of Miami, Florida being the most common departure point for these flights. One of the great things about flying out of Miami is the fact that the flight will usually take less than two hours. The flights to Grand Cayman that depart from other southern U.S. cities, such as Houston and Atlanta, are also relatively short.
For Cayman Islands visitors who are interested in Little Cayman flights, the options are limited. There are currently no direct flights to Little Cayman, though that might change in the near future as Cayman Islands vacations continue to become more popular. As of now, all of the Little Cayman flights originate out of Grand Cayman or Cayman Brac. The planes are small and the on-flight amenities limited, but the flight is a short one. The Cayman Brac and Little Cayman flights that originate out of Grand Cayman are offered daily. As such, travelers can easily make an island transfer. All of the islands are worthy of a visit, with Little Cayman and Cayman Brac being the most quiet of the trio. They are also the best islands in the chain for fishing.
Whether travelers are interested in flights to Cayman Brac, Grand Cayman flights, or transfers between the islands, the Cayman Islands vacation packages are worth keeping in mind. Often times, these travel packages include the flight, and deals are typically standard. Other things that might also be included in a Cayman Islands vacation package are a rental car, accommodations, and even some fun tours. The bulk of the packages revolve around diving and snorkeling, as the waters that surround the Cayman Islands boast some of the most dynamic underwater vistas in the world.
Cheap flights to Cayman Brac and Grand Cayman are relatively easy to find if travelers put some effort into it. Booking a flight well in advance is always a good tactic for saving some money on a flight, regardless of where you want to fly to, and it also helps to be flexible with the dates and the airlines. Also worth noting is the fact that the Cayman Islands flights tend to be cheaper in the mid-April to mid-December off season. Budget-minded travelers who are trying to decide when to go to the Cayman Islands will also find that the bulk of the hotels, resorts, and vacation rentals drop their rates during the off season.
