Cayman Islands Nightlife

Cayman Islands nightlife is largely centered around the Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach areas on Grand Cayman. Seven Mile Beach begins just north of Georgetown, so it's easy to travel between the two destinations if you want to get a taste of the nightlife on both sides. The bulk of the bars and clubs can be found at the beach hotels and resorts, such as the Sunset House and the Marriott Grand, and as you might expect, these bars and clubs see their biggest crowds on the weekends. Georgetown and Seven Mile Beach offer the best nightlife in Grand Cayman by leaps and bounds, and while the smaller islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac are exceptionally low key on the nightlife front, they boast some hotel bars of their own that can be excellent places to have some nighttime fun.

The nightlife in Seven Mile Beach Grand Cayman offers more in the way of variety than the nightlife in Georgetown does. That's because this glorious beach is lined with resorts and hotels that offer at least one bar of their own. These resorts and hotels also have some terrific restaurants between them, and dining out can be a perfect prelude to a night of drinking and dancing.

While the best nightlife in Grand Cayman is to be had on the west coast along Seven Mile Beach, visitors to the north coast resort destination of Cayman Kai can always enjoy some nighttime fun on the side. There are a few popular bars and restaurants in and around Cayman Kai and Rum Point, and they are within walking distance of most vacation rental properties. It is also possible to make the drive over to the west coast should you want to catch a live band at one of the Seven Mile Beach bars. For anyone drinking while they enjoy the Cayman Islands nightlife, taxis are available. On the smaller islands, most visitors don't stray too far from their hotel bar. Also, since the majority of the vacation rentals can be found within walking distance of a bar, cars aren't usually needed for getting around, especially at night.

Cayman Islands nightlife doesn't compare with the nightlife on some of the other Caribbean islands, such as Aruba and Jamaica, but there are some quality bars and clubs that can satisfy the need for nighttime fun. One option for some of the best nightlife in Grand Cayman involves catching some live music at the bars and clubs at the major hotels. Sometimes, all you have to do is follow the sound of the music as you walk along the beach until you get to the most hopping party. Many of the hotels across the islands host weekly beach parties, and these parties often feature live music, not to mention barbecued food. On Little Cayman Island, for example, Sam McCoy's Diving & Fishing Lodge throws a weekly Saturday night barbecue party that is known for attracting its fair share of visitors.

The nightlife in Seven Mile Beach Grand Cayman starts to wind down at around midnight, and the bars and clubs that don't close at midnight are usually closed by 1 a.m. The same can be said about the bars on the smaller islands. This British overseas territory simply isn't geared towards late night fun. Visitors primarily come to dive, snorkel, sail, and enjoy any other number of outdoor activities, and often times, they want to get a good night's sleep before a big day. It's worth noting that the legal drinking age in the Cayman Islands is eighteen. It's also worth noting that more often than not, a surcharge of around fifteen percent will be added to your food or drink bill. This charge basically takes the place of a tip, and if you're not happy with the service, you won't likely have to pay it.

For those who prefer a different kind of experience for their nightlife in Seven Mile Beach Grand Cayman, a sunset sail or dinner cruise can be easy to arrange, and it can always be an option to entertain at your hotel room or vacation rental. The vacation rentals tend to be better for entertaining on the whole, as they are usually more spacious than a hotel room and feature full kitchens. That being said, some of hotels and resorts boast spacious guest units of their own, some of which are equipped with kitchen facilities.
