Rum Point Grand Cayman

Rum Point Grand Cayman is home to one of the most spectacular beaches in the Cayman Islands. Found approximately 25 miles north of George Town on Grand Cayman Island, Rum Point Beach enjoys a relatively isolated, north coast location. The out-of-the-way location doesn't dissuade tourists from heading up for a look, however. Soft, white sands meet clear blue waters at this tree-shaded beach, and the conditions are great for swimming, snorkeling, and a range of other things. The bar and restaurant on the beach can satisfy visitors' needs for food and drink and watersports equipment is available for rent when more than sunbathing is on tap.

Snorkeling tops the list of things to do at Rum Point Grand Cayman, and this has a lot to do with the calm and clear waters. The water is very shallow at Rum Point Beach, and the water is kept relatively calm by an offshore reef. Visitors of all ages can snorkel and swim during a Rum Point visit, but since the sandy bottom is littered with coral heads, care should be taken when moving about. When visitors aren't snorkeling and swimming at this beautiful beach, they can relax in a hammock, sunbathe, enjoy a picnic, or see what the small gift shop has to offer. Rum Point Grand Cayman might not offer as many facilities as the wider and longer Seven Mile Beach, but there are public restrooms, showers, and changing at Rum Point Beach.

Rum Point Grand Cayman is at its busiest on Sundays, though it is worth noting that the restaurant is only open Monday through Saturday. While the restaurant is closed on Sundays, the bar is open. Many locals boat over on Sunday to visit the bar, making a lively atmosphere. The tourists who pay Rum Point Beach a visit often combine the trip with a snorkeling adventure at Stingray City.

There isn't a lot to choose from in terms of hotels near Rum Point Beach. As such, visitors to this side of Grand Cayman might keep the vacation rentals in mind. The Retreat at Rum Point is the area hotel of choice, and it blends the hotel experience with the vacation rental experience. The privately owned condo units at The Retreat are well equipped, while the facilities include a fitness center, a sauna, a swimming pool, and tennis court.
