It costs extra, but as far as the experience is concerned,
it is worth every Cuban Peso. The dolphins will
jump over you if you float on your back, and you can even
hitch a ride about the outdoor pool by grabbing onto one
of their fins. The trainers here are extremely friendly,
and can answer any questions you might have about the
animals and the show. It’s kind of like a
simplified Cuban version of Orlando,
Florida’s Discovery
Cove.
You only get about 15 minutes or so to actually swim with the dolphins, and it is a tad expensive, but how many times do you get the chance to do such a thing, especially in Cuba!?! There are also options to buy photographs of yourself with the dolphins, which costs extra as well. It certainly makes for a nice Delfinario Varadero souvenir. Should you choose to add the Delfinario to your Varadero vacation agenda, you will most likely come away with a deep appreciation for these amazing aquatic creatures. Quite smart, they have a lot of personality, and seeing them up close and personal is a treat that other Varadero attractions might find hard to compete with.
