Curacao beach hotels are located all along the western coast of the island. Many of these are beach resorts in remote locations, and some are beachfront hotels in Curacao located right in the capital city of Willemstad.
Avila Hotel Curacao
Perhaps the most luxurious beach accommodation in Curacao located in the city is the exclusive Avila Hotel. This lovely property is within walking distance of the popular Punda District, which is the island’s legendary shopping mecca and home of historic Fort Amsterdam. With its own private beach, this property combines a sophisticated city experience with the feel of a resort. It even boasts its own museum, the Octagon Museum, set in an octagonal building that dates to 1812 where Simon Bolivar took refuge after liberating large portions of Latin America from Spanish colonial rule.
Another of the Curacao beach hotels in the city is the Holiday Beach Resort and Casino, located in the Otrobanda District (the part of the city where Caribbean cruises dock). As its name suggests, it boasts one of the island’s casinos with 450 slot machines and 23 table games. This is another of the city beachfront hotels in Curacao with its own private beach and, like virtually every other hotel along the sea, partners with a PADI certified scuba diving operator. There are 210 rooms and suites, tennis courts, beach volleyball, a very large freshwater swimming pool, a number of dining options, and a well-equipped fitness center.
Curacao Marriott Beach Resort
More beach accommodation in Curacao in Willemstad can be found a bit further to the northwest at the four star Marriott Resort and the Hilton Resort. Further south of the city, around Sea Aquarium Beach are the Kontiki Dive Resort and Breezes Curacao. All of these offer similar facilities—from dive operators and swimming pools to restaurants and fitness centers. All of these Curacao beach hotels with their own private beaches in the city offer surprisingly excellent snorkeling, something you might not expect in a city environment.
Most of the other beach accommodation in Curacao will be found anywhere from a 20- to 45-minute drive from Willemstad. A 45-minute drive takes you to the furthest northern point of the island and the Kura Hulanda Lodge on Playa Kalki Beach or to the furthest southern point and the Santa Barbara Resort Curacao on beautiful Barbara Beach. The Santa Barbara Resort Curacao is among the newest and most extensive resort complex on the island, boasting its own marina as well as Santa Barbara Plantation, a planned resort community of private homes and villas. The Kura Hulanda Lodge is set on dramatic cliffs overlooking Playa Kalki Beach. It is the sister property of the Kura Hulanda Hotel and Casino in the city, which is where the prestigious Museum Kura Hulanda is located.
Since virtually all beachfront hotels in Curacao are also beach resorts, you will find most of the facilities and amenities that you normally expect of resorts on a more or less lavish scale depending on the property. All of the ones that have casinos will be located in the city, and most of the resorts located further away are smaller and more intimate.
