Bayahibe Beach

Bayahibe Beach can make for a fun place to spend some time during a Dominican Republic vacation. Found less than a mile from the center of the town of Bayahibe, this beach is open to the general public and features warm waters that are usually quite calm. Visitors take opportunities to swim and snorkel, and there are both restaurants and food stands to take advantage of as well.

One of the reasons why Dominican Republic tourists often include Bayahibe Beach visits on their itineraries is because of the area’s low-key vibe and its enticing diving opportunities. Several dive shops call the general area home, and it doesn’t take very long to get to any number of delightful dive sites. These dive sites include the Coco, the St. George, and the Atlantic Princess shipwrecks.
When Bayahibe visitors aren’t spending time on Bayahibe Beach, they often find themselves at nearby Dominicus Beach. This wonderful strip of sand offers a more natural and pristine appeal, and the swimming and snorkeling opportunities are quite divine. Side trips to Isla Saona are also very popular, as Bayahibe is the main jump-off point for this tropical island off the southeast coast.

In terms of lodging, there are a healthy number of Dominican Republic resorts that call the Bayahibe Beach and Dominicus Beach area home. There are also some pretty good bargain hotels for those who are trying to keep costs to a minimum.
