Plage de Cluny

Plage de Cluny is a peaceful little beach spot located on the northwest coast of Basse-Terre. If your dreams of Guadeloupe include lounging on a small beach with tranquil waters, than this beach might just be right for you. Cluny beach Guadeloupe might not be the most secluded of the 50 beaches on the island, but it does offer natural beauty and calm waters.

Other beaches on the island, such as Anse Laborde, are known for rougher waters, so if you’re traveling as a family or would prefer soothing seas, choose Plage de Cluny. Some travelers don’t leave the beaches of their resorts, but this might be a mistake. There are beaches around the island that are a quick drive away, and all help to form the complete experience of Guadeloupe.

Centrally located, Cluny beach Guadeloupe can be found on the western coast of the island. This sun trap is only five miles from the hotel Residence Pointe Batterie, a popular place to stay. If you want to combine your excursion to this beach with visiting a local village, Ste. Rose is also close by and is convenient for a joint visit.

Travelers often have different opinions on what makes the perfect beach, and Plage De Cluny is comfortably on the middle ground—it isn’t entirely secluded, but it also isn’t a loud beach overrun with tourists. If you are looking for a beach that straddles the lines between these two extremes, Plage De Cluny should be at the top of your list. Bathing suits are optional on this beach, so be aware that you may encounter some nude sunbathers. If you’re traveling with children and might find this offensive, it’s best to stick to other beach options during your Guadeloupe vacation.
