Montego Bay Airport

The Montego Bay Airport, or the Sangster International Airport, as it is officially known, is one of the Caribbean’s busiest and most modern airports. Part of the reason why it is so busy is that tourists who plan on staying in Montego Bay aren’t the only travelers who are known to use it as their Jamaica arrival point. This airport is also convenient for anyone who is planning on basing themselves in Negril, Ocho Rios, and Runaway Bay.

The Sangster International Airport is considered to be one of the main gateways to the Caribbean. This is largely tied to the fact that it is Jamaica’s busiest airport, and Jamaica itself is one of the Caribbean’s most highly visited countries. Many airlines use the Montego Bay Airport as their Caribbean hub, and this lends to the high availability of flights to Jamaica.

The Montego Bay Airport is only a couple miles east of Montego Bay proper. Many of the area resorts are known to provide complimentary airport transfers for their guests, while those who are in charge of their own airport transfers most often rely on taxis. Two authorized taxi companies have a presence just outside of the Customs exit and they are the safest and most trustworthy options. The names of these companies are JUTA and JCAL.

It is also possible to rent a car at the Montego Bay Airport should you wish to have your own wheels. Unfortunately, those who are hoping to take a budget friendly bus from the Sangster International Airport to Montego Bay don’t have any options, and it should be noted that the Montego Bay bus service in general isn’t very practical.
