Weather in Montego Bay
The weather in Montego Bay is warm throughout the year, and this helps to make the Jamaican resort such a popular year round travel destination. Temperatures fluctuate very little from month to month, and when it comes down to it, there are really only two seasons in Montego Bay. These seasons are the rainy season and the dry season.
Summer in Montego Bay: As is true throughout the northern hemisphere, summer is the warmest season in Montego Bay. July and August both have an average high of around 90 degrees, while their average lows tend to fall around the 75-degree mark. Should you wish to relax on the Montego Bay beaches during the summer months, chances are good that you might encounter some rain, as the rainy season is May through October. The rains are usually short, however, and more often than not, the sun shines bright in Montego Bay.
Fall in Montego Bay: The fact that May through October is considered to be the rainy season in Montego Bay isn’t the only thing that fall visitors should keep in mind. June through November is the hurricane season in the Caribbean, so this can affect both summer and fall travelers. Thankfully, Jamaica doesn’t get hit by a lot of hurricanes, and these days, it is possible to identify strong tropical storms well before they make landfall. As for the fall temperatures in Montego Bay, they tend to hover in the 70's and 80's. In relation to rain, September and October are the wettest months on average.
Winter in Montego Bay: Winter is the peak season for Jamaica travel, and this has something to do with the fact that it is the driest season on average. There’s also the fact that many people look to escape the colder environs of their home countries during the winter. In terms of temperatures, highs can reach into the upper 80's during the Montego Bay winter, with the lows dipping down into the low 70's on average. It is usually quite blissful outside, so winter is ripe for all kinds of activities, such as snorkeling, swimming, and boating.
Spring in Montego Bay: Early spring is usually drier than late spring in Montego Bay. It is also busier as things relate to tourism, which has something to do with the fact that March to mid-April is Spring Break season. During the day, the temperatures usually reach into the 80's, and as is common throughout the year, the average lows are in the 70's. In other words, the weather is usually quite pleasant in Montego Bay during the spring months.
