Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico

Named for the pink-tinged cliffs surrounding Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico, this city is known for its family-friendly resorts, pristine beaches and prevalent seafood restaurants. Still finding its footing as a tourist destination, Cabo Rojo remains slightly off the beaten path, on the southeast corner of the island that was once the hangout of many a pirate. Now you're more likely to find children frolicking in the surf, which is probably better for everyone, nowadays.

Parents flock to Cabo Rojo because there's plenty to do for children and adults alike. Families are often found perusing the Cabo Rojo Lighthouse, stopping at one of the souvenir shops lining the streets near La Plaza in the center of town, or heading out to the see the tropical plants and animals at the Cabo Rojo Wildlife Refuge.

The family resorts are not the only places to stay on your Cabo Rojo vacation, though. In fact, this is one of the best locations on the island for budget hotels - even though it a ways from the main airport, you can save a lot of money staying at Cabo Rojo hotels. Parador Perechi's and the Lighthouse Inn are good choices, whether you have kids in tow or not. There is also the Cabo Rojo hotel of Vista Puerto if you are looking for a more intimate setting.

In fact, a Cabo Rojo vacation will likely be full of them. Just because the city prides itself on catering to families, there are plenty of places to get away from it all here. Set out into the pink cliffs on your own, or go see the colorful birds in the Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico Wildlife Reserve. The hiking here is excellent, but not well-regulated, so you have to take care when you set off into the lush vegetation.

The entire island of Puerto Rico has been outfitted with excellent beaches, and you can find quite a few on a Cabo Rojo vacation. Playa Lucia has long been considered one of the island's best, its serene coves displaying a wonderful view of the Caribbean, the skyline featuring by the famed Cabo Rojo Lighthouse. The El Combate Beach overlooks the azure waters of the Atlantic and is renowned around town as a top party spot. Ubiquitous palm trees highlight Boqueron Bay Beach, which is laid out in front of many of the best and most affordable Cabo Rojo hotels.

How much you enjoy Cabo Rojo Puerto Rico depends on what you are looking for. There's definitely a lot of families around, and not a whole lot of nightlife - but if you are looking for amazing seafood and a glimpse of a more laid back Puerto Rican village, this will be the place for you.
