St Kitts Weather

St Kitts weather is hot and tropical all year round. The reliably good climate is what makes the Caribbean such a sought-after vacation destination, and St Kitts is no exception. The island is located to the west of Antigua, and to the southwest of Florida, so is perfectly located to get pleasant weather most days of the year. Although there are no definite seasons, there are periods that are drier, or wetter, or prone to hurricanes. Average temperatures range from 77 and 81 degrees Fahrenheit, so whenever you choose to travel to St Kitts, you’ll never need to pack for the cold. Light clothing is best, although if you’re traveling in the rainy reason, a light jacket and hat is advisable, or waterproof gear if you’re planning on sailing or watersports.

December through June: This period is the dry season, and is also the most popular time to visit the islands. Temperatures average at around 77 to 80 degrees. While there is some rainfall during this period, showers are very infrequent. It’s best to bear the popularity of this time in mind when booking flights to St Kitts or St Kitts and Nevis hotels, as these are likely to be booked up well in advance. The Christmas period is especially popular, as not only is the weather sunny, hot and dry, but the festive period also coincides with one of the most famous St Kitts events, the St Kitts Carnival, which takes place over December and January. While December to June is definitely the best time to travel to St Kitts and Nevis when it comes to the weather, it is usually the most expensive time to vacation here.

July: July is the first month of the rainy reason, before the hurricane season begins. Many people put off traveling to St Kitts and Nevis in the rainy season, especially if they’re coming for the beaches or outdoor activities such as water sports, sailing, or golf. However, those looking to escape from a colder climate to the heat of the Caribbean won’t be disappointed by the wet season, as it is also the hottest time of the year, with temperatures averaging around 77 degree. While there tends to be more rain during this period, there are still plenty of sunny days, and those planning to avoid the wet should note that it does rain on the islands all year round, just less often during December to June. Many vacationers choose to travel in July, as they are more likely to find cheap hotels and airfare to St Kitts and Nevis, and the hurricane season is yet to begin.

August through October: The hurricane season is typically from August to October. However, there’s no need to panic and completely avoid traveling to the islands during this period. In the last 65 years, only thirteen hurricanes have hit the island. In the same period of time, there have been ten tropical storms, which are classified as violent storms, but are not strong enough to be defined as hurricanes. This is a great time for St Kitts budget travel, as long as you’re prepared that you might have to spend a few days indoors.

November: During November, the islands return to a mild, temperate rainy climate, as in July. While hurricanes are possible, they are very infrequent. Temperatures are at about 77 degrees. While humidity rises during the rainy season, it is rare for it to rise above a comfortable 70 percent, while the cooling trade winds ensure that the air doesn't get too sultry during this wetter period. Those staying in the hills should note that temperatures will tend to be cooler, while the rainfall will be a little greater.
