Golf is a great activity throughout the Caribbean with the beautiful scenery, Caribbean breezes, and of course the championship golf courses. St Martin golf courses offer the same excitement for the golfer at the premier St Maarten golf course—Mullet Bay. This should in no way sway you away from experiencing teeing off for rounds at the St Martin golf courses. This one golf course is worth many, especially with the challenging course. Golf in St Maarten at the Mullet Bay Golf Course is very challenging with fairways lined with tropical palm trees and the challenge of the lagoon holes. The course was designed by Joseph Lee, and sculpted around the lagoon to entice you to look away at the scenery and miss that perfect shot. The challenge of golf in St Maarten is more than you might expect with short fairways and small greens. Even the pros may go away without getting par.
At one time, the Mullet Bay Golf Course was home to a resort, however, since the resort was closed, the St Maarten Golf Association has maintained the St Maarten Golf Course. Not only does the association keep this St Martin golf course open, but keeps it looking its best.
If you really love golf in St Maarten, then you may wish to join in on the tournaments held throughout the year. It would be best if you contact the St Maarten Golf Association to learn about the dates and tee off times to ensure you will arrive in time to enjoy the competition.
The St Martin golf tournament, the St Maarten Open, is held each year around the end of April. During this time, you can participate or enjoy watching over 100 golfers from around the world compete for several prizes with the top golfer walking away with a cash prize of 10,000 dollars.
Many golfers that enjoy the St Martin golf course join the St Maarten Golf Association as they can receive several privileges that nonmembers do not enjoy. The main reason for joining is that the course is only open to guests on Tuesday and Thursday while members can use the course any time.
Of course, if you desire to play a round of golf other
