Canouan is one of the small islands that comprise the nation of St Vincent and the Grenadines, located in the Lower Antilles of the Caribbean Sea. Canouan Island only measures about three by one miles, but the land you will find is abundant with lush vegetation and the crystal-clear coastal waters teem with vibrant coral reefs and exotic marine life. When you plan a trip to St Vincent and the Grenadines, you should strongly consider paying a visit to Canouan, if you are not already staying there. Canouan is one of the only places in the entire island chain where you will find not just one, but two resorts. As such, many families and groups who do not stay on St Vincent Island or smaller islands like Bequia and Mustique, tend to stay on Canouan Grenadines. There are lots of eco-tourism related activities, including hiking, and seeing the island fauna like donkeys, iguanas, and a wide world of tropical birds. Fishing, snorkeling, boating, and diving are just a few of the popular pastimes on the island. Restaurants and stores can be found in and around the Canouan Airport, the Canouan Resort, and the Trump International Golf Course.

Although some would argue that the existence of the resorts and other such tourist accommodations on Canouan Island sully the St Vincent and the Grenadines experience, the Canouan beaches and the natural landscape make up for any perceived imposition the hotels may present. For those people who do not at all mind having an all inclusive resort experience where their every whim is catered to while staying on an island such as Canouan, this may just be the ideal destination. Others who wish to have more privacy and serenity on their trip may opt for a more secluded beach on St Vincent or Bequia. However, this is not to say that there is no privacy to be found on Canouan. Just because there are two resorts (Raffles and the Tamarind) does not mean that the entire island is overrun with tourists.

The Raffles Resort is the bigger of the two luxury hotels on Canouan Island. It takes up an approximate one-third of all the land mass on Canouan and features all of the modern amenities that international travelers have come to expect from full-scale resorts, including pools and a spa, restaurants, a golf course, and much more. The Tamarind features the Trump International Golf Club, a well-respected course that was designed by Jim Fazio. The Raffles Golf Resort has earned major awards in the past for being among the top golf courses in the world. Needless to say, any vacation on Canouan Island can be luxurious to say the very least. People enjoy the ability to moor their yachts near Friendship Bay, have an amazing dinner and drinks, and walk the sugar-like beaches. If you are seeking out the perfect place to enjoy a romantic vacation, you will be hard pressed to find a destination more appealing the Canouan Grenadines when it comes to the Caribbean Sea.

Activities on the island that are suitable for people of all ages also include kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, and golf. For families interested in taking all of the stress off of the upcoming vacation, consider one of the all inclusive resorts on Canouan Island. This way you can make sure everyone stays fed and happy and has plenty of activities to keep them busy. Canouan Island is one of the most appealing of the Grenadine Islands, not only because of its natural beauty, but also because of the convenience of hotels, restaurants, and stores.
