Industry Bay is one of the premiere beaches on the island of Bequia. This is due in large part to sheer natural beauty of this white sand, crescent-shaped beach. The beach is one gorgeous, tropical cove that is ornamented with bunches of coconut trees. It is relatively deserted on one end and opens us to a small inn where there is a bar and a few rooms to rent. The Crescent Beach Hotel is one of the only options for accommodations right on this particular beach. The reference to Crescent Beach alludes to its shape, but for the purpose of marketing vacation rentals and other such things, the beach is sometimes advertised as “Crescent Beach,” if you happen to see that name as you are making your plans. Industry Bay Beach Bequia gets its name from the thriving produce industry that was taking place on the island around 100 years ago, and carries on to this day.
There are a few things to plan for when you go to Industry Bay. It is a semi-secluded beach, so there are not a plethora of public accommodations. There is, however, a restaurant and beach bar, as well as shady picturesque areas where you can simply relax and take in the Caribbean breeze. The blue reef waters are good for swimming and body boarding, but snorkeling can sometimes be a bit difficult due to the occasionally choppy waters (Industry Bay is located on the windward or eastern side of the island where the currents are more intense). All in all, this is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island of Bequia and one well worth exploring.
