Chic is a good word for describing the Coblentz Inn, and even if you don’t stay here, you should enjoy at least one meal at its restaurant, which is one of the best in Port of Spain. Most of the 16 rooms here carry a themed decor, which is a nice touch if you get one that does. All of the rooms are charming and comfortable, and each features a full kitchenette, a desk, internet access, cable TV, air conditioning, a stocked mini-bar, complimentary bath accessories, a robe, a CD player/radio, a safe, and an iron and ironing board. Room service is available and a complimentary breakfast is included in the rates. The Coblentz Inn is a wonderful place to come back to after seeing the sights around town, or perhaps after a trip to the beach at nearby Maracas Bay.

The Forty Winks Inn, which is found in a central location, is a more affordable inn for those seeking cheap hotels in Port of Spain. Speaking of friendly, the staff at the Forty Winks Inn goes out of its way to please, which is aided by the fact that there are only 5 rooms here. Be sure to check out the rooftop garden when staying at the Forty Winks, as it is a wonderful place to enjoy a break.

For something a bit different when it comes to lodging in Port of Spain, you might try getting one of the 3 rooms at the recently renovated Gingerbread House Bed and Breakfast. Originally built in the 1920s, the Gingerbread House is a nice example of a traditional Trinidad house, and it can be found in the suburb of Woodbrook. Should you stay here, you are within walking distance of a number of good restaurants, and you can be in the heart of town in no time if you hail a cab or hop on a maxi tax bus. Among the charms of the Gingerbread House Bed and Breakfast are its agreeable rates, and while the rooms are not luxurious, they offer charm and comfort. Each features an ensuite bathroom, cable TV, air conditioning, a fridge, a telephone, and a ceiling fan. A full breakfast is included in the low rates, and there is a small splash pool and sunning deck where guests can relax while planning their next Trinidad tour or shopping excursion. It will prove hard to find another Port of Spain accommodation option that offers as much overall value as the Gingerbread House B&B, which is a big reason why it’s worth a look.
