Turks and Caicos Weather
Turks and Caicos weather is arid compared to many other Caribbean islands, similar to the climate that can be found on the Netherlands Antilles islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao. There are tracts of sand dunes, excellent for four-wheel-drive tours, cactus, and numerous salt pans and saline lagoons that first drew settlers from Bermuda. While there is an average of 350 days of sunshine, the best time to travel to Turks and Caicos is from about mid-October to mid-April.
Summer: The Turks and Caicos weather begins to really heat up in July and August, often reaching the 90s. This also is the beginning of hurricane season throughout this part of the Caribbean. Many of the properties and other tourist facilities close up during the height of the hurricane season, so if you plan on traveling during this period, you may not find some dining spots, shops, and smaller hotels open. On the other hand, the is the prime time for scuba diving and snorkeling.
Autumn: The temperatures begin to moderate in October and November, with daytime temperatures averaging in the mid 80s. This is the best time to travel to Turks and Caicos if you are looking for cheaper vacations. It is the shoulder season, and many of the hotels and resorts offer deep discounts. About mid-October marks the end of the hurricane season. Lines that offer Caribbean cruises do have itineraries visiting here during the summer and autumn, and occasionally they will alter the itinerary skipping an island in the event of a hurricane and dropping anchor at another. If you are flexible about your plans, you can find excellent deals on cruises during this time.
Winter: The best Turks and Caicos weather is during the winter months, and this is the absolute peak season. These are small islands. Hotels, resorts, and inns are small and fill up quickly during the peak months, so you should make your plans as far in advance as possible to ensure you have the lodging of your choice. Even during this balmy period, you are apt to experience some scattered rain, usually during the early mornings and late afternoon.
Spring: The best time to travel to Turks and Caicos for bargain deal on flights and hotels is from about mid-April onwards. There are discounts of from 20 to 50 percent during this time offered by many properties, and flights are also cheap. Like the spring months, this is also shoulder season. Late winter and early spring are the most arid months, although there can be rain at any time, especially on the island of North Caicos (known as the "Garden Island"), which has the most lush landscapes.
