The US Virgin Islands beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world. The US Virgin Islands is a collection of three islands: St. John, St. Thomas and St. Croix. This means you can find an overwhelming selection of beaches in the US Virgin Islands to satisfy your craving for paradise!

USVI Beaches by Island

St. John

Soft white sands contrast against picture perfect blue waters on this island. The north shore has the best beaches on the island, such as Trunk Bay. Voted one of the "Ten Best Beaches in The World", Trunk Bay is one of the most magnificent beaches you will find in the USVI.

Beaches in the US Virgin Islands are on National Park land, so they are all open to the public, unless they land in front of hotels or resorts. The Caneel Bay Resort is one of the few USVI beaches that allow public visitors. Ask the front desk guide at the Caneel Bay resort for a day pass.

Honeymoon Bay is a US Virgin Islands Beach that is popular with the hiking crowd. It’s usually tranquil and deserted, since it’s not accessible by car. There are even two campgrounds maintained by The National Park Service, one at Maho Bay and another at Cinnamon Bay. The USVI beaches of St. John are also famous for their snorkeling and diving. You will even find signs in and around the coral reefs identifying the various sea life courtesy of the National Park Service.

St. Thomas

St. Thomas has more heavenly beaches to enjoy. Bluebeard’s Beach is known for its excellent windsurfing. Located near the Ritz-Carlton, this US Virgin Islands beach is quiet and not crowded. Coki Beach has incredible snorkeling and scuba diving, with some of the most breathtaking views on the island. Hull Bay is frequented by surfers, Limetree beach has a concession that rents water sports equipment and Magens Bay, like many other U.S Virgin Islands beaches, is a public park. Other noted USVI beaches on St. Thomas are Morningstar Beach, Sapphire Beach and Vessup Bay

St. Croix

St. Croix’s has many amazing secluded spots on its palm lined and white sand beaches. One of the prettiest beaches on St. Croix, Shoy's, is another US Virgin Island beach that has crystal clear water, is quieter and more relaxing. The best overall snorkeling is in Cane Bay, which is home to a dive center, bar and restaurant. Cheney Bay has a quiet, serene, beautiful view. For the adventurous, catch a charter boat to Turtle Beach on Buck Island. Turtle Beach is another US Virgin Islands Beach that has been voted one of the best in the Caribbean.

Other important information about beaches in US Virgin Islands

Collecting shells from beaches in US Virgin Islands is forbidden; customs will confiscate them at the airport. Beaches in US Virgin Islands are open to the public; however, please be careful not to cross onto to private property past the tree line.

A few beaches have resorts close by.
