St John is the least developed of the United States
Virgin Islands, and that’s just fine by most, who
appreciate the island’s pristine and laid-back feel.
Since development is limited on St
John island, your choices for St John accommodations
will be more limited than on the more developed islands
of St Thomas and St
Croix. The St John resorts
are quite luxurious, and since the island offers such
a cherished experience, they are also quite expensive.
If you should choose one of the St John resorts as your
St John accommodations, then you’ll certainly be
enjoying some of the best service and amenities available
on the island. Unfortunately, there are no St John
all inclusive resorts
to choose from, so you might look to the St
Croix resorts and St
Thomas resorts if that’s what you’re after.
The Caneel Bay Resort is without question one of the more interesting St John resorts, offering a luxurious eco-resort experience. This excellent choice for St John accommodations can be found resting on 170 acres in the island’s National Park. There are 7 wonderful beaches to choose from for guests at Caneel Bay, and complimentary to guests are a range of services and amenities, including use of snorkeling gear, kayaks, and small sailboats. For an additional charge, other activities can be arranged, so you might enjoy a fishing charter or a Jeep rental, among other options. There are an array of luxurious room choices at Caneel Bay, and the amenities are many. You won’t find any televisions or telephones in your room, however, as the focus here is on friends, family, and nature.
Another excellent St John accommodations choice is the
Westin St John Resort & Villas, which offers a much
different experience than the more relaxed Canneel Bay
Resort. The Westin involves more of a mega-resort
experience, which is what some visitors will prefer.
The Westin St John Resort is spread over 34 acres, and
it has the largest pool in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Guests can relax on the 1,200-foot beach here, which boasts
palm trees and white sand, and when it’s time for
a workout or a bit of pampering, the state-of-the-art
spa and fitness center should prove ideal. There
are 6 tennis courts for guests to enjoy as well, and you
can rent equipment, book a lesson, or peruse the tennis
pro shop at your leisure. With 4 restaurants on
hand, you can expect a varied dining
scene at this Westin offering. The Beach Café,
which is one of the resort’s eateries, offers nice
views of Cruz Bay, and at Snorkel’s Bar you can
dine on the beach under palm trees. Like other St
John resorts, this one has a dive shop, and you can start
by diving in the pool if you are a beginner.
Found just a short walk from downtown Cruz Bay, Gallows
Point Resort offers 1-bedroom suites that feature a list
of amenities, including fully equipped kitchens.
Satellite cable TV, a private balcony, wireless internet,
and a king size bed are just some of the other amenities
you can expect at this fine St John accommodations option.
There is a nice restaurant on-site here, and if you feel
like preparing your own meal(s), the resort’s gourmet
grocery store should prove convenient. When you
stay at one of the St John resorts, such as Gallows Point,
you will have so many activities to choose from that you
could never possibly get bored. Horseback riding
tours can be arranged at Gallows
Point, as can guided kayaking expeditions. Perhaps
you’ll be up for a parasailing experience or a trip
to the British
Virgin Islands to go scuba diving.
The St John resorts mentioned here are the main choices on the island, with the Westin being the best fit for those interested in St John resort villas. The St John resort villas at the Westin St John Resort & Villas offer extra space and flexibility, making them ideal for families, as well as anyone else seeking increased room and privacy. There are studio St John resort villas here, as well as 1 and 2-bedroom choices, each with semi-private swimming pools. The full kitchens are nice for those who want to prepare some meals here and there, and you can keep on top of your laundry, as each unit offers a washer and dryer. In addition to the Westin’s St John resort villas, visitors to St John can also choose to rent privately owned villas and/or vacation rentals.
