Though Belize City is the largest city in Belize, it’s not that big when it comes down to it. As such, you might find the Belize City lodging choices to be fewer than you may have expected. This doesn’t mean there isn’t a decent variety of Belize City hotels. There is pretty much a hotel in Belize City to fit every budget, and if your travel funds allow, you might choose to book a stay at a Belize City resort or lodge. Some would argue that the Fort George Lighthouse area is not only the safest, but also the prettiest neighborhood in town, and you’ll find some great Belize City hotels in this vicinity. Hopefully, the following Belize City lodging recommendations will prove helpful for anyone in need of a good hotel in Belize City for their upcoming trip.
For those who are either on a tight budget or just want
a basic room at a good price, the Belcove Hotel is discount
Belize City lodging pick that is hard to beat. It’s
located downtown in the business district, and guests
can enjoy great views of the Swing Bridge and Haulover
Creek from the communal balcony. There are a few different
room options to choose from, some a bit more deluxe, and
thus pricier, than others, though the most expensive rooms
still come in pretty low. A budget single or double is
your cheapest bet, and they pretty much feature beds and
fans, some with a shared bathroom, and others with a private
bathroom. The single, double, and triple deluxe rooms
all have private showers and baths, cable TV, and much-appreciated
air-conditioning. All of the rooms, regardless of price
range, are clean and generally more spacious than the
other like-priced Belize City hotels. There is free parking
here for those with rental cars,
and you can arrange an airport pick-up with the Belcove
Hotel that is more affordable than if you were to hail
a cab. The hosts here are great, and the level of service
is certainly part of what makes this a top budget hotel
in Belize City.
If you’re looking for a nice mid-priced hotel
in Belize City that features clean rooms and good service,
the Chateau Caribbean is a good fit. One of the best attributes
of the Chateau Caribbean is its Caribbean Sea-front location.
Its Colonial-era architecture helps to make it even more
attractive. Great sea views can be enjoyed from some of
the rooms, or from the hotel’s nice restaurant.
Should you book one of the suites, you can have your own
seafront balcony. All of the rooms here have air-conditioning,
telephones with international access, cable TV, and comfortable
beds. Though not a fine-dining affair, the Chateau Caribbean
restaurant does serve good Belizean food, as well as some
pretty tasty Chinese cuisine, which is a bit curious,
in a good way. The Belizean breakfasts here are a great
way to start your day. A friendly and accommodating staff
helps to make your stay at this hotel in Belize City hotel
more enjoyable, and it doesn’t hurt that there is
free parking. Whether you’re staying for a few days
in Belize City, or just looking for a good place to shack
up for a night before heading to other Belize
destinations like Ambergris
Caye or Placencia, this
Fort George area Chateau Caribbean should do you fine.
For those who prefer the bed and breakfast-style hotels
of the world, the D’Nest Inn is a splendid B&B
Belize City lodging choice that is bound to both surprise
and satisfy you. Besides its great hosts and its safe
neighborhood location off of the Northern Highway, it
features very agreeable rates for the experience. In fact,
you’ll probably keep wondering why they don’t
charge more here. They could certainly justify it. Internet
access, cable TV, air-conditioning, and ceiling fans are
just of the amenities you can expect in the spacious units
here. There are only four units, and each is impressively
decorated and features its own private bathroom. You’re
just 3 miles from downtown Belize City, should you want
to head into town to enjoy tours, go shopping,
or simply enjoy a good dining
experience. You certainly won’t need to head anywhere
for breakfast, as those served at the D’Nest Inn
are delicious and filling. Of all the Belize City hotels,
this is certainly one of the best.
For those who want to trade in the more standard Belize City hotels for a Belize City resort, the Black Orchid Resort is an excellent choice. It’s found 30 minutes outside of town, and just 15 minutes from the city’s international airport. The Black Orchid Resort has a wonderful staff that can help you not only enjoy yourself on-premise, but also off the grounds as well. Among the tours they offer are trips to the Maya ruins at Lamanai, visits to the Blue Hole National Park, a stop at the Belize Zoo and more. Ever try cave tubing? The full-service restaurant here serves excellent fare, and you might find it hard to pull yourself away from the hotel pool and gardens. The rooms are also easy to get attached to. They are luxurious, spacious, and fresh, featuring pretty much all that you could need. A comfortable king-size bed or two queen-size beds can be selected, and each unit offers a nice tiled bathroom, A/C, cable TV, a telephone, and a great private patio. Interestingly enough, there is a Black Orchid Villa available with 3 bedrooms and 2 bath rooms, as well as discount-priced rooms in a small guesthouse. Hanging out at the tropical lounge is a great way to pass some time here, and you might browse the gift shop when you are up for a little shopping on the side. There is so much more to mention here, but you’ll just have to experience it yourself to get the whole rewarding picture.
