Things To Do In Costa Rica

Extraordinary sights and wondrous vistas can be found all over the country of Costa Rica.

Knowing what the Costa Rica attractions are will help you get the most out of your trip. Visitors arrive here and see the tour companies and feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things to see and explore. The following are the top things to do in Costa Rica or places tourists will want to visit on a Costa Rica tour.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve
This is a protected cloud forest, which is a unique type of mountain rainforest that usually has 100% humidity. Platforms hundreds of feet in the air allow you prime views of the rainforest canopy.

Arenal Volcano
This is the most active volcano in the whole country, and could be well be the highlight of your next Costa Rica tour. Situated to the north of the capitol of San Juan, this area is home to caves, Lake Arenal, and the Tabacon Hot springs, which are fed by the volcano.

Turtugeuro National Park
This rainforest preserve is on the Atlantic coast. This is where the rivers spill out into the ocean. Great fishing and wildlife viewing of crocodiles of other animals can be had at this, one of the most well-known Costa Rica national parks.

Nicoya Peninsula
This is the pristine sanctuary of the Pacific. Home to Tamarindo beach and a host of other surf spots, this is a place where many tourists don't bother to visit, but that is well worth the added travel time. The winter months are prime whale watching time and the best time of year to take a Costa Rica tour.

Corcovado National Park
Mangroves, palm swamps and a blood weed forest are types of vegetation in this seaside preserve. At the center is a crocodile filled lagoon, making a visit here a thrilling part of your Costa Rica adventure tour. Its many rivers and streams provide habitat for the jaguars, giant anteaters and tapers that live in the virgin rainforest.

Tabacon Hot Springs
This could very well be at the top of the list of things to do in Costa Rica. There is a luxurious resort and spa here at these natural geothermal springs, which are fed by the Tabacon River, which is heated by the Arenal Volcano. All the rooms have views of the volcanoes, as do the springs.

Poas Volcano National Park
Only an hours' drive from the capitol, this is one of the best things to see around the capitol of San Jose. While not as impressive as Arenal, this volcano has a sulfur lake inside one of its explosion craters. The area is filled with ash so there is little vegetation near the summit for an otherworldly experience unlike any other and provides a great setting for your Costa Rica adventure tour.

White water rafting
The rainy season turn the calm rivers of Costa River into raging whitewater rapids. Most of the rivers drain into the Atlantic - a reward at the end of your Costa Rica adventure tour.

Tortuga Island
This is actually one large island, and three smaller ones. The unspoiled beaches are kept that way by the low impact eco friendly tourism that is managed by the family that inhabits the main island. Tortuga Island located off the southern tip off the Nicoya peninsula and boasts incredible views of the Pacific.

Costa Rica Surfing
Miles of beaches a vibrant, bustling waterfront and warm 85 degree water make the Pacific coast one of the top Costa Rica attractions and a perfect setting for some of the best surfing in the western hemisphere.
