Anthonys Key Resort

Anthony’s Key Resort has long been one of the premier lodging establishments in Honduras' Bay Islands. Opened four decades ago, it can more specifically be found in the Sandy Bay area of Roatan. The resort is partly set on the north shore of the main island and on two smaller cays. The area in general is characterized by beaches, clear blue waters, palm forests, and mangrove tracts. Water taxis transport guests from place to place, and there is no shortage of ways to stay busy between the vast resort complex and the rest of Roatan. Golfing at The Black Pearl is just one example of an activity that can be enjoyed outside of the resort grounds.

The guest units at Anthony’s Key Resort come in the form of wooden bungalows that are tastefully designed. There are 56 total, and they are situated on the main island and on the cay. Each is an individual retreat that is perched above the ground, and guests have the option of securing either a superior unit or a standard one. Among the added perks in the superior units are mini fridges and air conditioning. Ceiling fans and consistent ocean breezes help keep things comfortable in the standard units. Common amenities that are found in each and every bungalow include a safe, windows that open, an alarm clock, a hair dryer, and a hot shower. When booking a bungalow at Anthony’s Key Resort, prospective guests are encouraged to keep the available lodging packages in mind. These packages revolve largely around diving and include meals and beverages.

Dining & Facilities

Anthony’s Key Resort offers a main restaurant that is complemented by a dining pavilion and two bars. Guests can select from either entrees or buffet dining experiences, and once a week, there is an opportunity to venture out to Maya Key for a typical island buffet that features local favorites. As mentioned, there are lodging packages that include meals and beverages. Other facilities that are found at Anthony’s Key Resort include a Dolphin Encounter lagoon, a spa, an outdoor pool, a gift shop, and a snack shop. Anthony’s Key Resort also offers everything that a good dive resort should in the way of diving facilities and programs. It should be noted that the Institute of Marine Sciences and Roatan Museum is found on the resort grounds, and guests enjoy free access.

Anthony’s Key Resort deservedly hails itself as a pioneer in the diving industry and boasts an impressive array of diving-related amenities. Examples of such amenities include dive equipment rentals, an onsite recompression chamber, a PADI continuing Educational Program, an air-conditioned classroom facility, and a modern fleet of dive boats. Extensive shore diving can be enjoyed in the resort’s lagoon and along the Front Porch reef. Guests can also book excursions to remote dive and snorkel destinations or take advantage of the dolphin dive and snorkel opportunities that are offered by the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences. Considering all of this, it is little wonder that so many travelers choose Anthony’s Key as their preferred Roatan dive resort.
