Roatan Luxury Resorts

Roatan luxury resorts have more recently become popular among upscale diving enthusiasts, nature lovers, and beach lovers historically attracted to both Costa Rica’s and Belize’s beaches, jungles, and waters. The main components of Honduras are the mainland and islands where jungle-laden hills and white sand beaches star in the all-natural backdrop. The bulk of international visitors mostly focus Bay Islands of Roatan and Utila. While retirees and expats have created a need for better infrastructure all around, vacationers are cashing in on great new hotels, restaurants, shops, and especially tours. With a short 30-minute ocean journey to the mainland, Honduras’ many other delights become easily available to island visitors.

Blue Ocean Reef Resort

Just a short distance from Fantasy Island, Marbella, and Parrot Tree Beaches, Blue Ocean Reef offers one of the best locations of all Roatan luxury resorts; it’s set on a private beach in a national/state park. The onsite restaurant and lounge and bar area fill dining and social needs. Ocean views are the best feature of guest rooms (luxury suites and one to three bedroom villas); they open up to balconies overlooking the ocean and include small kitchens, flat screen TVs, and cable. Guests can enjoy recreational activities including eco-tours via the resort and nearby parasailing, kayaking, fishing, and boating. The resort neighbors the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef creating excellent opportunity for snorkeling and diving. Another perk is the Roatan Zoo & Island Adventure park is directly behind Blue Ocean. The zoo and park reveal the island’s natural history by featuring (rescued) native species, informational exhibits, and features including waterfalls and streams.

Near the mid-central point of Roatan is Barefoot Cay, a luxury resort ideal for romantic getaways. The cay, set between the reef entries to duel bays, is one of many stringing together an area between Brick Bay and French Harbour. Set on a private cay and equipped with only nine ocean front lofts, villas, and beach bungalows, the natural backdrop creates a sense of a private paradise. Spa services offer massage wraps and myriad other treatments beachside of privately. Meals are created by the onsite professional chef and offered in-suite, beachfront, or poolside. Outdoor fun comes way of the Five-Star diving center, kayaking, snorkeling, diving, fishing, and more.

Mayan Princess

The Mayan Princess Beach and Dive Resort is an all inclusive beach front property offering access to neighboring San Simon Beach Club, all at the western tip of Roatan. The all inclusive plan offers meals and drinks along with a variety of activities including a scuba lesson, daytime activities and nightly entertainment.  Suites and condos are paired perfectly with manicured gardens and ocean views in a neatly designed resort centering around an outdoor pool with a waterfall with a bar and restaurant at the east end. Divers will love the almost one dozen dive sites offered by the onsite diving organization. Some extraordinary diving locations include famous Herbie’s Place, The Enchanted Wall, and the El Aguila Dive Wreck. The resort’s signature spa, Kukut, offers individual full body massages, facials, manicures, and packages.
