2009 Sea Festival features 70 diverse events

The south central Khanh Hoa provincial People’s Committee has approved a programme for the 2009 Sea Festival, which will be held in the coastal city of Nhatrang from June 6-12.

The programme includes 70 different events in culture, art, sports, economics and science including a Cau Ngu festival (fish worshipping ceremony). There will also be a coracle racing, a human chess contest, an exhibition of calligraphy, and a sand sculpture contest.

In addition, several national records will be set at the festival including the largest folk orchestra in Vietnam, the biggest wifi café at the seaside, the longest piece of embroidery work and the largest pho bowl in Vietnam.

Other highlights include a national conference on urban planning, a beach football tournament, an international book fair and a joint Vietnam-RoK concert.
