On 19 November 2015, the 11th Antarctic Ice Marathon will take place, just a few hundred miles from the South Pole at the foot of the Ellsworth Mountains. With temperatures of more than -20C and 26 miles to run, it will be a tough marathon for sure. The Antarctic Ice Marathon is organised by Polar Running Adventures, the organiser of the annual UVU North Pole Marathon, UVU Volcano Marathon and World Marathon Challenge.

I can't see this being something everyone would be able to do...only those with deep pockets will be able to attend such event. Then again, running in 80 degrees below zero is not my thing...I do wonder what people get out of running in freezing temperatures:)

You're right about that. The registration fee costs over €11,000, which is about $12,000. This apparently includes accommodation, food, and flights from Punta Arenas (Chile) to the Union Glacier camp in the Antarctic.
