It's true, there could be a casino coming to Boston. A lot has to happen first. Voters need to pass a referendum, but regulators want to jump ahead award a licence later this summer. I'm not sure what the political climate is looking like, but there is a lot of money in the game. Both Wynn and Mohegan Sun would like that once license to build a casino outside the city limits. What do you think?
Last I heard Mohegan Sun is nearing a deal on Revere casino and the major cannot wait for this deal to go through, which isn't surprising. This casino deal will mean for Boston somethinling like $18m annually, which of course in the economical climate is a no-brainer.
Boston doesn't need casinos. I have lived in Vegas and Atlantic City and the surrounding areas in those cities are cesspools. Granted, tourism in both cities is big because of casinos, but the drawback of casinos is the addictions, broken people and crime that they generate.
