adjusting to customs in Saudi Arabia

    any expats living in Saudi Arabia right now.. can you to share your experience of the local customs and is it difficult to adjust to them in Saudi Arabia?

    Im not an expat, though I know a bit about Saudi Arabia as I've been there twice not long ago. The first thing I'd say about Saudi Arabia and any non western country is culture shock!

    You won't know how you'll react to it until you land there. For instance, the first thing that hit me when I got off the plane was the extreme heat and the landscape.

    As far as customs, yes these are very important but they're not as tedious as some people make them out to be. Basically, don't bring bibles, alcohol, adult material, etc as it's not allowed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

    Also, Saudi women are covered from top to bottom and the men wear their traditional thobes so, to make it easier on yourself if you're a lady it's to cover yourself in the women's traditional clothes.
