Alaska is one of the top locations for prime fishing for a variety of fish species like salmon, trout, graylings, halibut and more. For those who've fished the rivers, streams or gone out on charter boats, what is the best time of year for fishing and the best locations? I've heard the Kenai Peninsula is a prime spot. Is this true?

it depends mostly on what kind of fish you prefer fishing. I know the Kenai is the most popular fishing spot in Alaska for salmon. As far as when to go...anytime between May and September is a god time to be fishing in Alaska. I personally go in early May when the rivers are low and very clear. As Raul says, it depends on when and where especially for salmon as there are several strains of Salmon that run at different times of the year. The first red salmon run on the Russian/Kenai rivers is historically around the solstice.
