According to American Express' Business, people will be paying more for car rentals this year than any time before. According to them, the reason for this is less competition among rental car agencies and the cost of new cars going up.
Boy that makes perfect sense to me. It costs a lot more for Enterprise to buy, say, an Impala, than it did 10 years ago. It seems like it's always the consumers who pay in the end, but that's how things go.
why rentals are expensive I'd say car rental companies are still fiercely competing among each other as ever. Maybe the reason for more expensive car rentals is because more people are preferring to use their own vehicles than getting stiffed by a rental one who's gonna cost them an eye and a leg.
Another reason they charge so much is because they can. Travelers are stuck when they need a car, and they have to pay whatever people are charging. But I'm glad the car rentals places are out there. I'd hate to have to drive everywhere.
